The Battle that I will show to you this week was from bltzr-wizard-726 account from which which is the scholar account awarded to me by Balthazar guild that has max level Chaos Legion deck and is currently playing on the Diamond league for modern but before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this rule set.

Description

Close Range
  • All Monsters have the Blast ability.
  • The best strategy is to have fast monsters with Snipe, Sneak, Opportunity, Scattershot.
  • For defense, Shield, Void, Taunt and Reflection Shield will come in handy.

Abilities to Consider:

amplify.png Amplify scattershot.png Scattershot
taunt.png Taunt reflection shield.png Reflection Shield
snipe.png Snipe ability void.png Void
  • Protect and Divine Shield if monsters have extra armor and divine shield, their health won't be reduced so easily when blast damage hit adjacent monsters.

  • Reducing the damage of the opponent using Demoralize, Headwinds and Silence means that the blast damage that will be inflicted to your team would also be reduced.

  • Counter abilities will also be handy to have such as Return Fire and Magic Reflect which will deal damage back to the attacker and with blast, it also means multiple damage can be returned.

  • The combination of Taunt and Reflection Shield allows to contain the attacks on one target and prevent the damage from reaching other monsters.

  • Having Shield and Void would also help reduce the damage taken from blast attacks.

  • Snipe, Opportunity and Scattershot allows Blast damage to be scattered around with all the opponent monsters.

  • Amplify monsters will be handy with this battle as they will increase the damage of Return Fire and Magic Reflect by +1.

For this battle, we have the featured rule set Close Range which allows range monster to be able to attack at 1st position as well as Going the Distance and Silenced Summoner. Given this conditions, I choose the following cards for my line- up:

  • Summoner: I used Quix the Devious as this allows me to use Fire element together with Dragon cards.

  • 1st Position: I used Agor Longtail with it having huge heath and armor has Taunt which makes it the target for attacks. With Void Armor, magic attacks will need to attack its armor first before they can damage its health and with Flying, there's a chance for attacks to miss while on the other hand, it can attack using melee and magic attacks.

  • 2nd Position: I placed the Venator Kinjo as secondary tank since it has the Reflection Shield ability which makes it immune to blast damage and won't be targeted by attacks with Camouflage ability. It also has Slow that reduces the speed of all opponent monsters.

  • 3rd Position: I used Forgotten One which has the Piercing ability that allows it's attacks to penetrate the armor of the target.

  • 4th Position: I placed Chaos Dragon which already has the Blast ability but it also has the Scattershot ability which allows it to attack random monsters. It also got blind that increases the chance for the opponent to miss its attack by 15%.

  • 5th Position: I placed Djinn Inferni that deals twice the damage on opponents with more than 10 mana with Giant Killer and possibly Stun the target.

  • 6th Position: I placed Supply Runner which increases the health and speed of all monsters with Swiftness and Strengthen.

Pre- battle Phase: Applying ability buffs and de- buffs

Round 1:

image.png

  • With the full attack of my team, we managed to defeat Dumacke Orc and reduce the heath of Arkemis the Bear to 5 due to Blast damage but it was revived by Adelade Brightwing with all of its armor restored.

  • Arkemis the Bear attacks Agor Longtail and cut its attack to half with Halfing then the rest of the opponent team attacks and reduce the health of Agor Longtail to 6 except of Disintegrator as it missed. The rest of my team does not received any damage since it has been blocked by Venator Kinjo.

Round 2:

image.png

  • The combine attacks from my team managed to defeat Dumacke Orc and Arkemis the Bear with the exception of Chaos Dragon as it targets Adelade Brightwing this time. inflicting blast to Disintegrator and Jared Scar's armor.

  • Adelade Brightwing restores the armor of Disintegrator and with Djinn Renova and Jared Scar, defeats Agor Longtail.

  • Disintegrator attacks Venator Kinjo for 3 damage and 2 Blast damage to Forgotten One.

Round 3:

image.png

  • Supply Runner and Djinn Inferni attackst Adelade Brightwing for 8 damage and causes for Disintegrator and Jared Scar to received 5 Blast damage each.

  • Chaos Dragon attacks Djinn Renova, removing its armor where the Blast deals 2 damage 2 Jared Scar

  • Venator Kinjo deals 1 damage each to Disintegrator and Jared Scar then ** Forgotten One** defeats Jared Scar and Disintegrator.

  • Djinn Renova defeats Venator Kinjo and 2 Blast damage to Forgotten One.

Round 4:

As Djinn Renova was the only monster left on the opponent team and was way slower to the rest of my monsters, the combined attack from Supply Runner and Djinn Inferni was enough to defeat it and end the match with my team winning at the end.

Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.

Did your Strategy Work?

Having Taunt and Reflection Shield on my team was able to contain the damage inflicted through Blast damage while at the same time, I have Chaos Dragon to inflict damage on random targets through Scattershot together with monsters that have huge damage output which in return deal more Blast damage on the opponent is what makes my strategy to work out this time. It also benefited my team that they were ahead of the opponent in terms of speed that allows them to attack first.
