Ruckus Rootpaw And The Return Of Martyr Ability

In less than 2 days, Krowl Brightbane, Vethos Spineclaw, and Taark Nightbloom will be out of the Voucher Shop, and replacing them will be 3 new Voucher cards. In total, we already have 9 Voucher cards under Conclave Arcana, and adding this new batch of cards, we will now have a total of 12 exclusive promo cards, one of which is the common unit, Ruckus Rootpaw.
In this post, I want to take a look at this Voucher card, with some of its potential uses and synergies, as well as the costs of the card through the different sale events in the next 90 days that it will be available.

Ruckus Rootpaw is a 4-mana common unit with both Earth and Dragon attributes, so it can be used in battle so long as at least one of those elements is active. It has the Canisan Bloodline, so it can also be used for the Archon Loving the Moo, and automatically gets the Poison ability through Bloodline Dominion, and at the same time, it can also get the Magic Reflect and Blast abilities through tactics, which will not immediately benefit this card unless it gets weapons trained, since it does not have an attack.
But while you cannot directly use it as an attack unit, Ruckus Rootpaw was packed with abilities and stats that were unusually high in contrast to its mana cost. At level 1, it gets the Decoy ability that will force opportunity attacks towards it, and if we pair that with its Void Armor at level 10, it means that it could take a few turns before this card gets defeated, while it reduces the max health of all the opponent units with Weaken, as long as it remains at play. At the same time, it can also provide support to its ally unit by giving them the Shield ability through Shield Ward. But what makes this card truly remarkable is its Martyr ability, which hasn't been available in Modern since Chaos Legion. It was said that the reason why this ability was shelved was due to the Bloodline Tribute ability, given that the two abilities share some similarities. But then, you could argue the same with Flying and Dodge.
With this ability, adjacent units will gain +1 boost to all of their stats when the card that has the Martyr was defeated. Pair this with Decoy and Ruckus Rootpaw can be a really vital card that can boost your card units.
General Voucher Sale
During the general sale that will start at September 30, each copy of Ruckus Rootpaw will cost 25 Vouchers, with a 2% base chance to drop a gold foil and a 0.25% base chance to drop a black foil version of the card. You can have a guaranteed gold foil drop for every 50 cards that you purchase, but you can lower it to 25 copies if you use 2 Alchemy Potions on each card, which will also double the chance to get a gold foil version of the card. Meanwhile, you can also double the chance to get a black foil version of the card if you use 2 Midnight Potions on each card you buy.
As of the writing of this post, 25 Vouchers are equivalent to 829.341 DEC, so if you want to get a max copy of this card, you will need 10,000 Vouchers for 400 BCX of the card, which will be equivalent to 329,526.965 DEC.
GFA Fortune Draw & BFA Auction
Gold Foil Arcane Fortune Draw: October 6th, 2026
In this method, you cannot directly buy Ruckus Rootpaw using Vouchers. Instead, players will need to join the Fortune draw event by entering Fortune tickets, which can be crafted by using 200 Aura, 10 Vouchers, and 200 DEC. It takes 1 Fortune ticket to enter the raffle draw, where there will be a total of 25 Gold Foil Arcane versions of Ruckus Rootpaw that will be raffled within 25 days. And even if you do not win, your entry will still receive at least a regular foil version of the card based on the number of entries you entered.
Looking at the current price of crafting a fortune ticket, it is currently equivalent to 684.80 DEC, which is a little cheaper than when you buy through the general sale, given that you own the necessary resources to craft it.
Black Foil Arcane Auction: November 27th, 2026
If you want to chase those premium cards but do not think you have the luck to win the raffle, you can also brute-force it by entering the Black Foil auction, where there will be 10 Black Foil versions of the card that will be auctioned, with a copy being auctioned every 26 hours. Here, what you need is to have enough Auction Marks to outbid other players. This token can be crafted by using 1000 Aura, 50 Vouchers, and 500 DEC for each Auction Mark.
As of the writing of this post, the price of crafting an Auction Mark is 2924.01 DEC, but to determine whether it will be cheaper to get this card through the auction or the general sale can only be known once we get to the auction.
Closing
And that was it for Ruckus Rootpaw. It certainly is an interesting unit with lots of potential synergies, and having one of the previously closeted abilities makes it much more desirable, compared to the current common card in the Voucher Shop.
