Are you a coconut?

A speck on this planet
that we all call Earth
Ego as big as a large coconut
that does not crack easily
Look at the stars during the night
the vast universe seems endless
even Earth is smaller than the star dust
and imagine the tiny human
who dares to laugh and mock others
ridicules and bullies
especially, the perfectionist
who does not think about others
why they are not 'perfect'
or why he/she does not realize
that they are not perfect either
can a man do all jobs?
The soon we realize we are nothing at all
the earlier the ego shall disappear
humility is a virtue
but fools do not possess it

The title refers to the ego. Some people have tough egos. As hard as a coconut. Try to speak reason to such people and they will defend themselves with all their might. Arguments and reasoning are of no avail.
Why then bother at all? Just walk away as fast as you can. The only problem is if such a person lives along with you in the house. Even then, arguments can be avoided by maintaining silence. Sometimes, ignoring such people and their taunts can turn out to be a better decision than trying to explain your stand.

Tips to remain calm and neutral are easily available on the internet today. When one opens the tube, we can see lots of videos about social discipline, self-health and how to be successful in times of negativity, and so on. Many self-proclaimed Gurus advise the viewer about many things. It is not bad to listen to such stuff but make sure to listen only to that which will benefit you and do not follow every piece of advice because it could mislead you too.

I hope you liked the free verse that was written by me. Truly, when we look at the sky on a clear night, we can see many stars. Have you ever wondered about how small our planet is when compared to the stars and how beautiful the starry night is?

The black sky with stars studded like diamonds is an awesome sight. When you get time, do watch the night sky and try to learn more about the stars.

Okay, coming back to the topic, a coconut is a fruit encased in a hard shell that is difficult to open. People with big egos are just like that. They do not see reason easily. It would take a lesson or two for them to understand the reality and even then they might not concede defeat because it is below them. Many marriages fail because of this, sadly and it affects the children involved.

So, try to be humble and soft-spoken. When you speak softly and gently, the other party will also lower the voice and try to listen with more attention. one loud noise and it is over and then the arguments will start afresh.
