Corruption and entrepreneurship

The state of Kerala is famous for many things but unfortunately infamous for discouraging entrepreneurs and industries. There are a lot of instances that can be traced back over time where companies that were beginning to flourish had to close shop and leave and others wherein interested parties were not even allowed to open or let alone land.

There are both advantages and disadvantages to the above. The advantage is that the state is still not largely polluted but the disadvantages are that educated natives have to leave the land and look for jobs elsewhere and the infrastructure is underdeveloped by and large.

Kerala may be a tropical paradise and a tourist's famous destination but it still has to develop even the tourism industry and pride over the roads. True that the Kochi Metro is a lovely thing to boast of or the Lulu mall which is world-class but these are not enough to call the state above par except for the literacy rate which unfortunately does not help much. If you study reports, there is a continuous brain-drain and those that remain are either involved in politics and washing dirty linen on social media networks. The targets are obviously celebrities and political rivals.
Regarding this issue, I think media like Facebook have to take action and restrict people from misusing it.

Coming to the topic, the recent events of a company 'Kitex' leaving the state to open shop in another has awakened the people of Kerala to this unpleasant situation and revived memories of closed companies like the Travancore Rayons and such.

Kitex is a textile company that has been hugely successful. The company owner and his staff along with the villagers managed to form a local political party and won the local body election and transformed the small village that boasts of success alone. The problems started when they decided to contest the state elections and soon became the targets of major political parties. Continuous raids have now made them decide to leave the state because they are unable to work here and rather than close shop, they have now planned to move to another state.

The people of the state have misgivings because it would imply that Kerala is kicking out its own businesses and also it means loss of jobs, especially in the pandemic era.

What makes people, especially leaders act so that they lose their own assets?
The center has to make sure that the industries are not under the state government and whichever government comes to rule, the industries should not be affected.

The laws written more than half a century ago do not hold true for the present situation and I hope the leaders realize it. There should be amendments and laws that make sure that the country's progress is not affected by a single party or person.

Another case of a closed shop is that of a spice mill that had to close because the local party activists opposed the smell of spices being powdered. Silly reasons are often brought forth to halt the progress of the state but at what cost?

The literacy rate does not indicate intelligence.
