The why and how
can you tell me now?

Once in a place
there lived a nasty old maid

The village had many a scandal
and the maid was sure to handle

People were 'gossips' to her
she never had a positive word

A young maiden was an easy target
she was always behind to 'catch' a suspect

Young men who minded their business
She itched to disturb their friskiness

The middle-aged were maybe bored
they had perhaps a scandal under their shawl

The nasty maid was a nuisance
needless to say, she was a menace

People avoided her 'mighty highness'
She was soon alone and a mess

Come the winter
she felt cold

No one cared
and she was left alone

The villagers felt sorry for her
brought her food and fire for her lair

She had only the eye that searched
searching for a scandal that might roam

Never was there anyone like her
and no one cared to remember her

The above character is a figment of imagination. However, many like her or resemble her even in the present society. The best example is the dying print industry, which digs scandals to keep its publication alive. There also are humans who leave no stone unturned to gossip about their fellow beings and derive some sort of weird joy from it.

Weddings are a huge affair in my country and many people are invited. Some arrive even a few days before the wedding and start to behave as if they own the place. They try to cause fights and even perhaps call off the wedding by spreading falsehood and gossip. Such creatures are a curse to society. Those are the ones that still keep the tradition of dowry alive and given a chance will leave no stone unturned to lower the morale of the bride or groom.

Never have anything to do with such persons. Stay away from gossip and if possible, drive such people away from your friends' circle.

Life is a gift and we should not waste time talking to such people because it is an insult to the valuable moments we have. Years pass before we know and what once happened will be a memory now. So, treasure your life and spend each moment wisely.
