Today I want to share with you all about the arival of my new born baby.

It happened that I developed a little problem when I was 7months pregnant. I visited the gynecologist, I recieved a couple of drugs and injections yet it continued. I knew the problem was caused by stress from work and home activities but what can i do? I need to work for some cash. I knew as a nurse that if the premature labour continues, i would have a preterm labour that can also lead to giving birth to a premature baby.

So, i took 10days off work with the hope that the preterm contraction will stop but it only reduced.. I resumed work after the sick leave and it continued. I was able to manage my condition with the help of drugs and other things.

Days went into weeks and weeks into month. Then I went to work one monday and a colleague of mine adviced me to bring my baby things gradually should incase i falls into labour. So the next day being Tuesday, I went to work with a bag containing my baby things. At a time i was feeling unwell, something in me told me that my baby will not exceed that week. Later that day, I went to see the doctor for her to prescribe some routine drugs for me, only for her to do some check up and confirm that I was in labour!!!
Thank God my baby things were ready.

While in labour, it started with mild pains and at a time it stopped till the next day being Wednesday, the labour was not progressing till 12pm. The doctor suggested for Augmentation of labour. It was augmented with infusion and oxytocin (hot drip).
At first i was hungry even though i have had my breakfast but it was 12:30pm and getting something to eat was not easy. So i odered for popcorn and groundnut. While I was eating it, the woman next to me was shouting on top of her voice as she was in Labour pains. I knew that my own labour pain was on the way so I say let me kukuma chop to see strength abeg.

At some point one of the health personnels came in and was trying to caution the woman on how she was reacting to the pain.. she was like, "Look at this young mum over there eating popcorn, is she not in labour too." I laughed in my mind because i knew my own labour pain was coming closer.

After one hour, the music changed and I felt like shouting. Then I remember the old saying and i quote "once you shout while in labour you will continue shouting on subsequent Labour pains. So I had to endure the pains which was strong and consistent as It increased till after another hour, I had my baby girl.

Aww!! My face brightened, my mood was elated over the sound of her cry. Oh yes! God has done it again, she is my third baby and I'm very grateful to my maker for his unending love over me and my family. He has done it before, he just done it again and will continue to do it in the future.

The little one is 5weeks plus now.. she is quite disturbing. And again exclusive breastfeeding which we are strictly observing is not for the soft hearted.. I havent been able to sleep early for over a week now because of the baby. But all those are part of motherhood.
