A Quick Tasty Coffee in a Quirky Little Cafe
Hail to the Hive!
As we are temporarily based on our new Naroowboat Cygnet in Wiltshire we discided to explore a bit and took a walk around the little Town of 'Devizes' and it really is a cute little town. But that would deserve a post unto itself. Anyway as we were aimlessly wandering we passed and entrance to an old building which apparently used to be a Butchers Market over 200 years ago and there was the cafe sign outside calling to our coffee addiction....so in we went.
Inside had been repurposed into an eclectic market selling second hand goods, art and somewhere in here COFFEE!
The old building begged me to do a black and white so out of politeness to the old building I obliged.
Black and white wouldn't do this vibtant display any justice though. But I'm getting sidetracked
Where is the cafe??
MOre randomness that was right up my street ( or back alley market as it were but hold on , I spy chairs and a table up ahead!
Yup here we go. 'Soup Chick' 😄
Weordered 2 coffees and a toasted sandwhich and found a cosy , all be it very orange' snug opposite to sit in. And it seems a lot of the aer on display is also for sale. I've always like that idea. Selling art in cafes and continually changing the decor as you go.
Milly had a cappuccino and I a black americano and a toasted sandwich.
The orange lights made it hard to get a nice shot of the coffee and food but I promise you, they were both quite satisfying as was the quirkyness of the setting in an old butchers market turned art gallery sales and second hand goods market.
My americano, black, was well rounded and not too strong. More flavour than bite. It was just what the doctor ordered ( or me in this case) as I didn't need my susual shock and awe coffee fix, just a smooth and gentle push through the day.
Milly said the cappuccino was again well rounded smooth and tasty.
Not too sure about this one though. The lights make it look like shes wearing a crown of thorns.
Would we return to the 'Shambles' the old butchers market for a coffee again?
Yeah I reckon we might. Although we spied a few alternatives worth a look see.
Until next time my Coffee loving Hiver peeps.
Thanks @ackhoo Much appreciated!!
The market is highly recommended by all the locals, who are so friendly. I got a Dahab kind of Moroccan vibe and the orange decor made the setting warm and homely.
I'll be sure to pop back :)
So the big question is coffee or beer, どっちの方が好きですか?
That was an interesting post about coffee and viewing these amazing pictures is fascinating. I love the building in black and white though 😍
Have you ever thought, why coffee and bread are the most harmonious pair?
Hello @scubahead friend... That first photo is fantastic!... And the rest of the photos are also delicious, some look very "bohemian"... I'm glad you're having a good time!... Thank you very much for sharing!

That place looks great, worth admiring for all the antiques it may have and especially for the good coffee, the orange tone suits it well, there is more privacy between you and the coffee
Kinda classic vibe, Laf it!
It fascinates me, worthy of admiration
