Irie Coffee Vybz- Jamaica
Hail to the Hive!
Yesterday we moved hotels and moved into a tree house kind of vibe hotel called…..wait for it…..
Wild Coffee Retreat!
So I of course was looking forward to waking up to my morning brew. So after an evening of Red Stripe and spicy oxtail stew I woke up in our chilled tree house style room craving some black gold.
So I negotiated my way down the steep wooden stairs ( tricky after a few beers ) and made my way into the kitchen/ diner.
I do love the style of this place. Now where be the coffee?
Ahaha! There you be. I instinctively looked around for the coffee filters for the machine and coffee provided but to my great puzzlement, I couldn’t find any. Never mind I’m used to improvising as I mentioned in a previous coffee post.
There we go, paper towels in multiple layers for filter.
Coffee mugs located, check! These do look quintessentially Jamaican too.
And then the mystery of there being no coffee filters was solved. I opened the bag of coffee grounds to find them in a neat filter bag! Superb. Now that is very convenient, no measuring, no mess, no problem man!
Ok pop that in and get everything started
And wait.
Mmmmm so my first cup I enjoyed on the upstairs balcony allowing myself to ease into the day.
While I was sipping and chilling I heard a voice down below. What could that be?
Breakfast delivered to the room.
Nice. So my second cup of Jamaican deliciousness was enjoyed accompanied by ackee and saltfish, bammy, dumplings and fruit. Today is starting out very, very well indeed.
And to cap off a golden morning at Wild Coffee Retreat I had a third cup, but this time on the downstairs balcony.
What a nice spot for watching the world cup on my i pad while downing another monter mug of Jamaican black delicious coffee.
A tree house up high, and coffee down low, makes you wanna "turn your lights down low..." or maybe it's just because the room has a Bob Marley "presence" all around.
Those coffee bags are amazing, and ideal for places where power goes out. I think they would work perfectly by just boiling some water on the stovetop too.
Wow that looks like a really cool place. The tree house vibe to it is pretty unique. No filters required for the coffee - that's handy 👍
Its like my boyhood dream house. Loving it
Hi there, @scubahead. Still in Jamaica having an amazing time, I see! 😃 Wild Coffee Retreat is a cool place. Your tree house style room is super cosy I wouldn't mind spending some coffee time there. Haha.
Coffee in a filter bag is the best and convenient too. Enjoy your coffee and be careful on those stairs. 😃😊😊
Yup the stairs after a few beers are very dangerous lol. It really is a super cool place though

Hey very good option for a stay, especially the theme of the hotel makes you relax a lot :D
Hi @scubahead! Happy start to December and what better way to start it, in such a quirky hotel. Loved it all. Regards
Thanks @tiaene ! They’ve even given us an extra night free as the power was out for some of yesterday! Superb😃
How wonderful!😀
This tree-style hotel is beautiful and cozy. I love the feel and it feels like I want to immerse myself in there. The coffee bags are cool. I think it's the reason they didn't put the filter there. Ah, the view as well. Enjoy.
Yup, as soon as I opened the coffee pack imrealised why there were no filters lol. But because at the family home a few weeks ago we didn’t have any I went into improvise mode. Should have opened the pack first hehe
🥰🥰. I’m still envious of your sweet time.
