On to the Oxford Canal UK

(Edited)

Hail to the Hive!

So after starting our Narrowboat adventure we are now on our 3rd canal. We started off on the Trent & Mersey Canal and then turned off onto the Coventry Canal.

Now we are on the Oxford canal.

A few hours into the journey we spot 'WATER POINT' and I like to keep topped up so we can indulge in a nice hot shower with no worry about supplies. So we did just that.

IMG-5835.jpg

We were at a place called 'Rose Narrowboats' and as I am a nosy sort i thought I'd take a look around while the water tank was filling. It takes a while.

I love these canalside marina and boat yard places. So much individual character and a complete lack of pretentiousness that I am quickly falling in love with on the canals.

We will need to negotiate that swing bridge on the way out also. It seems to be for staff and customers to access that part of the services provided.

IMG-5842.jpg

As we have a small narrowboat I am getting a soft spot for the tiny craft and imagining the possibilities for such a vessel. Would you like this one?

IMG-5843.jpg

I noticed smoke coming from the chimneys of a lot of these craft as we came in so clearly people living aboard.

IMG-5837.jpg

Ok been told by @millycf1976 that the water tank is full. Time to go.

IMG-5844.jpg

Now it's a bright clear sky but it has taken a cold turn. My hands are cold and it did try to snow this morning. I need a cup of coffee!

IMG-5852.jpg

But my oh my is it a beautiful day. We are approaching a bridge of some sort.

IMG-5845.jpg

Well look at that. Grass covered walk way as well.

IMG-5847.jpg

And it just seems to be for allowing the narrowboats some space to turn around. They call that a 'Winding Hole'. Luckily our boat is short so pretty easy to turn around if we must.

IMG-5848.jpg
Well it's trying to snow again. Amazing how quick the weather keeps changing. I'm getting a little too cold so I think we will moor up for the day. It's after 3pm so we can do a quick shop in the town and get back to the boat.

IMG-5853.jpg

It's not a bad spot and convenient for shopping in the town. I need beer!

IMG-5869.jpg

And Beer I shall have!

Stay safe out there people, wherever you may be on this planet of ours

I can imagine there’s even more to see and do. It must be thrilling to see what’s at the “next location “. 😃What do you love most about Japan?

Thats a tough one as there’s so much. I love the history, the language and the general vibe. The food i adore. I love that shit works haha i really love that after 7 years in the Philippines. I love their politeness. All my Japanese guests at the dive shop i used to run were lovely. The ones that returned year after year i still talk to and i loved that we got more and more independent Japanese travelers every year. For me Japan is special and very unique

You make it sound like "We started off on the M4, turned off onto the M5, now on the A36" 😁

Looks like a nice day for cruising. We've seen the odd snowflake lately after really warm weather at the weekend. You never know with the UK.
