Walking for Fuel - Wednesday Walk

Hail to the Hive!

Waking up today to a frosty morning and realising that we are still trapped behind padlocked canal locks was ever so slightly annoying as we need supplies.

Now I had hoped that the Canal and River Trust were going to remove the padlocks as they had stated but ,alas this has not happened so I must walk from Warwick to Leamington Spa, purchase a 10kg sack of briquettes and lug it back to the boat so we can stay warm as the temperature has dropped quite a bit.

I don’t mind the walk itself, as it’s an extremely pleasant environment to wander through, but the lugging heavy sacks of fuel to burn I am not a huge fan of.

But the crisp fresh air and splendid sights is a real tonic and assisting in the clearing of my extremely foggy brain this morning.

Much beer was consumed last night as myself and @millycf1976 were celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary at the canalside pub oppsite where we have the boat moored. So it’s not such a bad thing to take a long stroll on this Odins day to clear the cobwebs from my head.

The other nice thing about walking along the canal is that it’s all flat. No hills. This man made waterway constructed so long ago has become quite the popular dog walking, cycling and jogging place for many to enjoy and in my case today, hangover clearing.

It’s also an extremely calm and peaceful environment which is also good for my fragile head this morning.

The last thing I need is noise right now. Carrying the heavy load soon will be more than enough so I am soaking in the pleasant sights on the walk to the shop as on the way back I doubt I’ll be taking them in for enjoyment as I will want to get back as quickly as possible.

Then back inside the warm and toasty boat and glug down some freshly brewed coffee. Not such a bad morning really

Such a beautiful area for walking but not so much lugging heavy bags of briquettes of Couse

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Isnt that always the way, so annoying but I guess what they call Murphys law

If I ever find Murphy I will have stern words with him about his silly law

You might want to think about possibly investing in a 2 wheel cart to make it easier to carry heavy stuff to the boat. 😊

I have one but the tow paths are too muddy to use it here on this stretch. I used it before last week but even then it was a struggle

Wait, you mean lugging heavy bags of briquettes was not on your 2021 bingo card? No? Yeah, it wouldn't have been on mine either.

Glad you were able to see the silver lining and captured such lovely photos. Happy Anniversary to you both!

Nursing a hangover, walk was the best medicine I would have as a guess 😂

Congratulations on the anniversary, perhaps buying yourselves a collapsible trolley might not be a bad spoiler for lugging heavy stores back to the boat.

Awesome walk, lovely morning and super duper photography!

We have a two wheel dolly cart but the tow paths are way too muddy and uneven in some parts here. I used it last week and realiswd with all the snow, mud and slush i am better off back packing what i can. They unlocked the locks today yayyyyy
