Beer Tasting: Golden Bread NEIPA And 5th Element Imperial IPA

avatar

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

How are you? Have you tasted anything for the 331st #beersaturday in a row?
Well, I've been out all day today running errands but now I've had something from my fridge.

A nice chilled surprise, two cans of the heavyweight category (if you follow my beer posts, two weeks ago I picked the two cheapest beers I could get in the shops).
But that's another story. I put them in the fridge this morning on purpose. Two top-quality IPAs, one from a Slovenian brewery, and one from a Croatian brewery. They were kept cold all day. And I can't wait :)

🍻 😎 🍻

Golden Bread NEIPA

Brewed by Green Gold Brewing, Ε empeter v Savinjski dolini, Slovenia.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.5% ABV, IBU 42.
It's NEIPA (New England India Pale Ale) style but also known as Hazy or Juicy IPA, American IPA with very intensive fruit flavors and aromas.

What do the Master Brewers say?

The pleasant bitterness and balanced aroma of this beer are created by the highly valued hop varieties from the home-grown hops - Aurora and Styrian Wolf. The aroma is full of pleasant fruity notes, with sweet tropical fruits and slight citrus. The sip is quite distinctly bitter and grassy. The aftertaste lasts quite a while with its rather dry character. A unique beer, a unique home-brewed recipe, brewed from malt and bread left over in the bakeries of SPAR stores. The product reduces food waste.

Well, that's interesting. I have tried several beers from this brewery and most of them have been very good. I bought it at the local SPAR and it cost me €2.36.

The beer is cloudy orange in color, the head is medium and creamy. It smells of hops and tropical fruits. A sip goes down the throat smoothly, and I immediately taste a distinct hop bitterness, followed by pleasant aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, and citrus, bread, and finally a little coconut in the background.
The intense hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for some time.

A very juicy and drinkable beer with pronounced fruit aromas and a strong bitterness. Very good. A real example of a Juicy IPA. And there is also the story about it being made with bread left over from the bakeries. Maybe a good example of the circular economy, where nothing is thrown away and charged more, but what do I know, maybe I have not got this sustainable economy right?
Although it's expensive, there will certainly be a few more cases ending up in my fridge.
All in all, it's a very good beer, distributed only in the SPAR chain, and in this story, everyone wins, well, almost everyone, I'm paying for the fun...

🍻 😎 🍻

No meme today, just some pictures of the state of my field. It has been raining heavily for two days, my field is next to the River Reka which has flooded and yesterday I went to see what was going on. On the top right of the photo is my tool shed. The field was okay, but the water didn't reach it.

πŸ“· 😎 πŸ“·

These are photos from today's afternoon, where I see that the water has receded and is back in its trough.

πŸ“· 😎 πŸ“·

Today was sunny and dry, we'll see what tomorrow brings, with meteorologists predicting heavy rain again.

Let's get on with the new beer!

🍻 😎 🍻

5th Element Imperial IPA

Brewed by Pivovara Daruvar, Daruvar, Croatia.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 7.5% ABV, IBU 75.
It's an Imperial IPA or Double IPA style beer, very hoppy, with rich and complex maltiness and strong alcohol.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Orange-copper color with persistent foam. Emphasized resinous, citrusy, hop aromas typical of American hop varieties COLUMBUS, CHINOOK, CASCADE, and CENTENNIAL.
In the background of the hop aroma appears the sweet aroma of caramel and alcohol perfectly balanced by the initial bitterness. Despite the increased alcohol content, very drinkable. Brewed to celebrate the 50th birthday and the 25th work anniversary of Kreőo Marić, Daruvar's brewmaster.

The beer is a clear light brown or copper color. It smells of caramel. A sip goes down the throat smoothly. In the mouth, I first taste the sweetness of the malt but not very pronounced, and the bitterness is in the background. Aroma and sweetness of caramel. I also taste alcohol. Faint hints of citrus and biscuit.
In the aftertaste, there is a distinct hop bitterness that lingers for quite some time.

A drinkable beer with very complex flavors. Malt sweetness and caramel dominate at the beginning, while hop bitterness lingers at the end. Very good, but I would have preferred the previous one because I find it somehow juicier and fresher, this one is a bit heavier.
It's not available here, I bought it in Croatia for €2, but I'm there quite often and will likely end up in the fridge in my caravan when I'm at sea.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Nothing from my yesterday's #newtunes post. Namely, I discovered a great band (which I'll feature next time in #newtunes).

I think that of the two beers you have tasted today, by your description, I would prefer the first one.

The rains seem to have wreaked havoc in several parts of the world, around here too and coincidentally today we also had a sunny day but now some gray clouds are announcing rain for the evening.

Thanks for stopping by. Both were very good but the first one was fresher and juicier.
It rained heavily all night but now, in the morning, it has stopped raining. I'll go there and have a look again.

So inspired with the IPAs available in so many places in the world! A NEIPA in Slovenia and an Imperial in Croatia? So good to see them all with the #beersaturday crew.

Yes, these styles are now popular everywhere for small breweries.

Alcohol 7.5% and below is my favourite drinks and most beers don't exceed that.

Happy #BeerSaturday
