Hello music lovers! 🎶

Yeah, it's Friday and time for #newtunes!

I'm on the island, I've successfully set up my 4G router, and I'm listening to some new music.
Each week (almost), I uncover fresh tracks from chart-toppers, hidden gems, and undiscovered voices, all eager to steal a moment of your time.
Could one of them become the next global hit?
The only way to know is to dive in and listen for yourself :)

Eight fresh songs for curious music lovers!
If something catches your ear — dig deeper to find more detailed info.
If it’s not your thing, just skip it.

Mick Harvey & Amanda Acevedo - Perfect Storm

Mick Harvey, Nick Cave’s longtime collaborator from the Birthday Party and later the Bad Seeds, has announced their third joint album with Mexican singer Amanda Acevedo, Psychedelia and White, set for release in September.
The song “Perfect Storm” is a woozy, psychedelic lead track from the new album, and Amanda’s vocals are ethereal and mysterious—the whole thing reminds me of the ’60s with Jefferson Airplane and the Velvet Underground, when everything was a bit hazy.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Wes Parker - Dinosaur Park

Wes Parker is an American indie-rock musician, songwriter, and singer. He is from Richmond, Virginia. He has been playing and performing since 2015, first as a member of the band Camp Howard until 2023, and has been pursuing a solo music career ever since.
“Dinosaur Park” is a song from his first solo album, Super Rare, which was released a few weeks ago. The music is fresh, energetic yet melancholic, and perfect for fans of contemporary indie rock with a personal touch.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Dynamite Shakers - Nightclub

The Dynamite Shakers are a French garage rock band from Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez (Vendée, on the west coast of France). They formed in March 2019 and quickly gained visibility through cover songs on social media and local shows. In 2021, they also opened for the Fleshtones and the Pixies. To me, they’re a new name. So far, they’ve released two EPs and their debut album, Don’t Be Boring, in 2024.
The song “Nightclub” is from their debut album and was recorded live at the Chez Moune club in late March. It’s got a very primal, raw, live rock ’n’ roll and garage rock energy.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Zoh Amba - Eyes Full

Zoh Amba (born Britney Hamrick) is an American musician, composer, saxophonist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist from Kingsport, Tennessee. She’s a new name to me. She has been performing since 2020 and has released seven albums to date. Six of her albums are mostly in the free jazz style, while her latest, Eyes Full, released a month ago, is her first singer-songwriter album, with which she is reaching out to a wider audience. Musically, it’s “moonshine-drunk,” with sharp guitar riffs that shift between tenderness and aggression — a transition from her free-jazz background to a personal, folk-rock expression.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Chat Pile - Deep Blue Strobe Warning

Chat Pile is an American rock band from Oklahoma City. They formed in 2019 and play noise rock/sludge. Their music is raw, claustrophobic, and steeped in the social horrors of America’s “flyover country” (poverty, violence, alienation).
The song “Deep Blue” is from their fourth album, Who Loves the Sun, due out in September. Raw, clattering noise rock with a melancholic groove—a mix of brass, swing, and brutal screams.

🎵 🎧 🎵

McKinley James - Back On The Run

McKinley James is a relatively young (22-year-old) American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and performer from Rochester, New York. He has been performing since 2017 (his father is a studio drummer). To date, he has released two EPs and one studio album, Working Class Blues, in 2024. He also worked as a “floor sweeper” at Easy Eye Sound studio, where he met the owner (Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys), who gave him a chance.
The song “Back On The Run” is a single from his new, upcoming album, which is still untitled. Working-class, amplified guitar blues with a strong ZZ Top influence—not bad at all.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Empires in Orbit and Fe Malefiz - Mother!

Empires in Orbit is a transatlantic (American-German) duo that has been active since 2015. Their music falls under the genres of industrial and electronic rock. To date, they have released six studio albums.
Earlier this year, vocalist Fe Malefiz joined the band, and the song “Mother!” is the title track of their latest album, Audiodrome, which was released a week ago.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Lene Lovich vs Sleaford Mods - Lucky Discourse

If you have good tools—and these days you have top-notch ones—you can do a lot. The song “Lucky Discourse” is a fan-made mashup created by YouTuber DazzleMonroe. Sleaford Mods shared it themselves on social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and praised it with the words: “weird, brilliant energy” and “big weird energy.”

The mashup combines two songs—Lene Lovich’s “Lucky Number” (1979) and Sleaford Mods’ “Discourse” (2019). The result is a very entertaining post-punk/electro-punk hybrid featuring Lene’s iconic “uh-oh-uh-oh” and Jason’s spoken-word rap over minimalist beats. ’80s new wave meets today’s disillusioned British punk. I’m sharing it, well, you know, because I like it :)
