Hello music lovers!🎡

I have a challenge again! In a flood of other commitments, I can hardly find a few minutes to prepare #newtunes, and music suggestions for the weekend, and beyond!

But I did it. Some of this week's music artists are stuck in my head, and if anyone likes any of them, that's a success!
You just need a few minutes of your time if you're interested. And if you don't like something, feel free to skip it!

Tina Turner - Acid Queen

The queen of rock passed away two days ago, and for all music lovers, it is right to dedicate a few lines to her memory. Tina Turner was certainly one of the world's best singers. Her fantastic voice and the way she represented it to the music world from the middle of the sixties of the last century until the end of the same, is nothing but a gift from God.
Maybe it's sometimes forgotten that despite her enormous popularity, Tina was also the queen of pain. A classic story about the abuse of a woman by her first husband, Ike Turner, her son's suicide, and numerous health problems that created suffering and mental problems.
I've chosen one, perhaps less known, song and role from 1975, which Tina sang in the rock opera Tommy, as a reminder. Rest in peace, Tina.

Grian Chatten - Fairlies

Grian Chatten, an Irish singer from Dublin, is perhaps best known as the frontman of post punk band Fontaines D.C.
He'll be releasing his first (I think) solo album at the end of June, and he's already got a few singles out. I heard this song on the radio a couple of days ago and I really liked it. It sounds very good and infectious, it reminds me a little of Steven Morrissey, the singer of The Smiths, not in the color of the vocals, but more in the atmosphere and lyrics. Maybe the girls will be just as crazy about him? We'll see.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Dropkick Murphys - I Know How It Feels

Celtic punks Dropkick Murphys opened new interesting chapters of their career last year by reaching out, like some others before them ( Billy Bragg and the band Wilco) for the notebooks of folk legend and great anti-fascist Woody Guthrie, a man who in a way changed the course of music history, breathing inspirations to the young Bob Dylan at the beginning of the sixties.
Less than a year after last year's "This Machine Still Kills Fascist", Dropkick Murphys released its sequel, "Okemah Rising". Song "I Know How It Feels" combines Guthrie's American socio-political engagement with a distinct Irish folk sound.

bar italia - Nurse!

That's a new band for me. They have been hailed by music critics as one of London's most exciting new post-punk bands. In the last two years they have released two albums and an EP, sold out solo shows, and have garnered attention with appearances at major festivals such as London's Pitchfork Music Festival, Norway's by:Larm, Portugal's OUT.FEST, the Netherlands' le Guess Who? and England's End Of The Road. Since they don't contact the public at all, they are shrouded in a veil of secrecy and various stories...
The song "Nurse!", from the new album "Tracey Denim" is a hypnotic, swaggering, and devastatingly cool song that accelerates and decelerates without warning, aided by ringing guitars and buzzing distortion that drives it to the spot.

EABS meets Jaubi - Sun

This group or project, whatever you want to call it, is something new for me. It started in 2019, when the English flutist and multi-instrumentalist Tenderlonius and the Polish keyboardist Marek "Latarnik" PΔ™dziwiatr went to Lahore, the capital of Punjab, Pakistan, as part of the international Get Your Jazz Together program, to record the album "Nafs at Peace" with the band Jaubi. Jaubi means anything or everything in Urdu and that is their approach to music making - they never write anything down, they always just play. The album "In A Search For Better Tomorrow" was recorded in one take, in Monochrom studio in Poland.
EABS is a European keyboard-saxophone-trombone quintet, while Jaubi is a unique trio of tabla, guitar and sarangi. And together they have created a broad, complementary musical picture in which there is plenty of room for musical improvisation as well as spiritual messages. International success has not been lost and maybe I will see and hear them at a summer jazz festival.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Cattle Decapitation - A Photic Doom

Cattle Decapitation is an American death grind band from San Diego. They have been performing for more than 25 years and have released 11 albums to date, the last one "Terrasite" two weeks ago.
They still stick to the same recipe - a mix of aggression, groove, breakneck speed and strong, melancholic melodicism. All crowned with vocals, of course, whose main assets are the crooning and, above all, the rather melodic, but still psychotic screaming.
All this is also expressed in this song "A Photic Doom". Definitely interesting for fans of the genre.

🎡 🎧 🎡

SMIRK - Total Reality

I don't think punk ever really died out.
I came across the Los Angeles punk project SMIRK, led by Nick Vicario, perhaps better known as the lead singer of Public Eye and Crisis Man. He started making music during the pandemic, and at the end of last year he made his mark on the Californian punk scene with his first solo album "Material".
From the album I chose the song "Total Reality" which takes me back to my youth and reminds me of the first Yugoslavian punk bands I listened to when I was growing up. Excellent!

🎡 🎧 🎡

Conway the Machine, Goosebytheway & Drea D'Nur - Kanye

Conway the Machine is a group from the Griselda Records collective, a rap label that produces and releases samples that could easily accompany mainstream-oriented and commercially viable rappers. But here, for a nuance, we sense a difference.
The spectrum of samples is different, the backing tracks are more musical, the tracks somehow sound like East Coast rap from the 1990s.
Just like the track 'Kanye'. For fans of the genre.

Been in Many Dropkick moshpits but I am getting too old for those and too young for TT. Nurse was new to #me2 but I loved the schizo-style song by Grian Chatten. Got to look those guys up.

Bar Italia is a new band to me, too. But do you want to say that you're Too old to rock'n'roll and too young to die? 😁
