Chelsea Wolfe - Death is Not the End
Chelsea Wolfe is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter; I’ve mentioned her a few times in #newtunes. She’s considered the queen of the gothic/dark/doom sound. She has been involved in music since her early youth and has released eight albums to date. Her sound blends delicate acoustic elements, heavy guitar riffs, electronics, noise, and atmospheric ambient textures. Her themes are dark: death, transformation, the occult, sleep, paralysis, femininity, and spirituality.
The song “Death is Not the End” is a new single released three days ago, likely a preview of a new album. It begins slowly and gently with piano, acoustic guitar, and whispering vocals, then explodes into a powerful, heavy guitar climax with a “soul-exploding” crescendo.
Magnifico - Miki
Magnifico is from Ljubljana, Slovenia. He has been involved in music and performing since 1992 and has released 10 albums to date, the most recent of which is Alpe Adria Club, released last December. He is considered a controversial artist, blending Balkan, disco, and schlager styles with ironic, provocative, and romantic undertones. His lyrics are satirical, socially critical, and supportive of minorities.
The song “Miki” is the third single from his latest album - a fun, danceable disco track with Alpine-Balkan energy and a satirical edge that pokes fun at… well, you’ll see if you watch the video :)
I actually chose this song because of the exceptional saxophone solo in the second half of the track.
Elephant Stone - Fascists Killed Yer Rock 'N' Roll
Elephant Stone is a Canadian band from Montreal. They have been playing since 2006 and have released six albums to date. Genres-wise, they fall into the neo-psychedelic category, with a strong influence from Indian classical music (sitar, dilruba) mixed with Western pop from the 1960s (The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who).
The song “Fascists Killed Yer Rock ’N’ Roll” is a single from their upcoming album Asha (Hope in Sanskrit), set for release in August. It’s a call-to-arms song with a sharp, punk-rock-style energetic riff that criticizes how far-right trends have “killed” the spirit of rock ’n’ roll - its rebellion and freedom. To be honest, this message isn’t entirely clear to me; I think the spirit of rock ’n’ roll is very much alive, but I’m okay with the music.
Pokey LaFarge - The Thing
Pokey LaFarge, real name Andrew Heissler, is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He lives in St. Louis. He has been making music since 2006 and has released seven albums. He plays roots and Americana music with a strong emphasis on blues, folk, country, western swing, and ragtime. His sound is very retro—he’s described as a “throwback” artist who breathes new life into old American music in a fresh, joyful, and danceable way.
The song “The Thing” is from his upcoming eighth album, Rent Money, set for release in September. It’s an upbeat, lo-fi rock ’n’ roll track with a vintage sound.
The Shallaras - I put something in your drink
The Shallaras are an international duo based in Berlin since 2023; as a new band, they’ve already had decades-long careers. They’re a new name to me, but they immediately caught my attention. Angela sings and plays the snare drum and saxophone, while Mauro plays guitar, bass lines, and drums all at once. Their sound is raw, direct, and vintage - without excessive production, a gritty, old-school ’50s–’60s rock ’n’ roll, rockabilly, and rhythm & blues vibe.
“I Put Something in Your Drink” is a darkly humorous rockabilly/rock ’n’ roll song with a provocative title; it’s got that “bad-girl” rockabilly vibe. I’m looking forward to their first album.
Litronix - Get Out (Live on KEXP)
Litronix is the solo project of Kevin Litrow, a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Los Angeles. A new name to me. He’s been performing as Litronix since 2010. To date, he has released one studio album and several EPs. Futuristic synth-pop or electro-pop with elements of analog synths, organic guitars, loops, boxed beats, and experimental pop. The sound is warm and danceable, yet also strange, retro-futuristic, and hypnotic. Kevin creates everything himself (guitar, beats, vocals, production), and his live shows are energetic and engaging.
The song “Get Out” is from the album One A Day Keeps The Doctor Away (2025). A dynamic, energetic electro-pop song with a strong beat, synth lines, and a provocative guitar solo.
Tamikrest - Adagh Oyantid
Tamikrest is a Tuareg rock band from Kidal, Mali. The band was formed in 2006 under the influence of the legendary Tinariwen and mixes traditional Tuareg music (ishumar guitar) with Western rock, blues, and psychedelia. Their lyrics are connected to Tuareg identity, resistance, exile, and the struggle for their people’s rights. To date, they have released seven studio albums, the most recent one in May of this year.
The song “Adagh Oyantid” is the first single from their latest album, Assikel. The words call for protecting Tuareg lands from exploitation and the loss of identity. The track has a pulsating feel, with strong slide guitar, a hypnotic rhythm, and an energy that mixes rock with the melancholy of the Saharan desert.
The Rolling Stones - Divine Intervention
And finally, a true legend. Apparently, the Rolling Stones still haven’t had enough of making music. They need more… and money, too…
The song “Divine Intervention” is a single released a few days ago and is part of the upcoming album Foreign Tongues, set for release in July 2026. It’s high-energy, bluesy boogie rock, the classic Stones sound with a powerful riff, Steve Winwood on piano and organ, and additional guitar by Robert Smith (The Cure).
🎶 That should be all for today, thanks for your attention, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
