Hello music lovers! 🎶

It's the day for fresh songs again! #newtunes selection for the weekend and the holidays. Although nothing too festive but just music for body and soul.

Maybe you'll like something and dig deeper. Most of the suggestions are not from the most famous musicians in the universe, just one. But if you have a minute and can afford it in this pre-holiday season, support the artists by listening.
And if you don't like something, skip it.

Lenny Kravitz - Human

Global rock star Lenny Kravitz has announced a new album, Blue Electric Light, which will be released at the end of May, with the first single Human. A melodic and very singable song, full of the positivity of Lenny's universe, as he says in an interview:

We're spiritual beings having a human existence and the journey and you only get one chance to leave the world a little better than when you entered it.

It's climbing the charts fast, I'm sure it will be a big hit.

Yard Act - We Make Hits

Yard Act is a British post-punk band from Leeds, that has been performing since 2019 and released their second album 'Where Is My Utopia' in January this year. Their Mercury Prize nomination and successful performances last year have earned them concert attraction status. The new album is more or less in a dance-rock style.
The song 'We Make Hits' doesn't stand out from the whole picture, but it has the self-ironic observation "but not hits like Neil Rodgers"... just fine for fans of the genre.

The Jesus And Mary Chain - Venal Joy

Two weeks ago, after seven years, Jesus And Mary Chain released their new album Glasgow Eyes, which is a continuation of the controlled chaos and use of electronics from their previous album.
I get the feeling they are continuing down the path of Alan Vega and Suicide, at least that's what it all sounds like to me.
The song Venal Joy is the introduction to the album, a repetitive and slightly danceable piece.

Hizbut Jámm - Caada Gi

Hizbut Jámm is for me a new, international band, with artists from Germany, Poland, Burkina Faso, and Senegal, which largely shapes the band's sound. After almost four years of playing together, the eponymous album is their debut.
Led by guitarist Raphael Rogiński, who also plays in other bands and is known for his exploration of folklore and traditional music, they explore the sounds of West Africa. The music is insightful, lively, and danceable. It's artistic, especially with Mamadou Bai's traditional vocals and his playing of the kora, an ancient West African instrument.

FLO - HI Cut

Hi Cut is a new EP by a Slovenian underground producer of electronic sounds, from Koper, who signs his name with FLO. He produces very complex and sophisticated dance music, full of layers, each of which is sonically textured and synthesized. The sounds are tangible, felt between the teeth and between the fingers. His vision of dubstep is very well thought out and refined down to the smallest detail. A great product for fans of the genre.

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - El Evil

This February, after thirteen years of silence on the scene, the avant-progressive-metal-grindcore-funk-theatre band Sleepytime Gorilla Museum from Oakland, California surprised us with the release of their new album 'of the Last Human Being'.
The band was known for their exceptional presence on stage as well as in their music, and with a precise sense of destruction, they exposed the dark hidden corners of the free exploration of the boundaries of music.
Despite a long creative hiatus, it's hard to say that anything has changed. They continue to cultivate their hybrid between progressive rock, almost doomy metal, grotesque cabaret, and uncomfortably psyched improvisations.
I gave the example of El Evil, which reminds me of Frank Zappa, Mr.Bungle, and who else. A must-follow!

🎵 🎧 🎵

Church Chords - Apophatic Melismatic

The Church Chords project is a large-scale manifestation of the composer, writer, and producer collaboration that produced the album 'elvis, he was Schlager' under the direction of Stephen Buon with thirty musicians.
Combining contemporary production with elements inspired by European ethno in terms of the musical framework, the creators managed to combine individual sonic profiles and preferences in a meaningful way. Kristin Slipp added vocals to this song.

Fire! - Work Song For A Scattered Past

Fire! is a Swedish trio formed in 2009 and at the end of February, they released their eighth album Testament. On the album, Mats Gustafsson on saxophone, Johan Berthling on bass, and Andreas Werliin on drums can be heard for the first time completely without the use of electronic gadgets. The music is distinctly minimalist, there is also less intense improvisation, and everything is directed in a dosed and controlled way. As a curiosity, the album was produced by the iconic sound engineer Steve Albini, owner of Electrical Audio, a studio in Chicago where Nirvana, PJ Harvey, and many others have recorded their music. Testament is also special because it was recorded on tape, in one piece, cleanly, and without excessive processing.
The song Work Song For A Scattered Past can be taken as a minimalist loop that fits when you're in a car in a long column.
Let's say :)

🎶That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend and holidays with new songs!

Thank you. These are not global hits, well, maybe this will become a Kravitz song, the others are more alternative and indie than not.
