Story Of A Pet

This is the story of our family member Atos. It's not my habit to share family stories, but with Atos I have always made an exception.

Those who follow me a bit more regularly probably already know him, maybe I have posted some photos before, but in a different context.

First of all, I have to say that we never had a pet when I was still living alone, and even when my wife and I were alone. Even when our first son (who is now 19) was born and he wanted a dog, I somehow convinced him that we wouldn't have one, because I'm of the opinion that you cannot dispose of living beings and that you cannot buy or sell them as material things.
Maj, the elder son, accepted this and somehow came to terms with the whole thing.

Then, a few years later, my younger son, Luka, remembered that he would have a dog, because all his classmates had pets, but he didn't. I tried to explain to him the same thing I had explained to Maj, that we can't be the owners of living beings and dispose of them as we please, that this means responsibility and care, but Luka refused to accept this at all.

He insisted so much that my wife couldn't even listen to him anymore and finally, after several months of drama (Luka is very persistent when he wants to achieve something), she gave in.
He wanted a Boston Terrier and he got it. That was at the beginning of March 2018 and here below is one of the first pictures of our new member.

And we had to change our way of life a little.
Well, I'm not saying it's not OK now, but at the beginning, I didn't feel right because we didn't allow Maj to have pets, but we did allow our younger son.
For a long time, I felt guilty because I should have done the same with both of them and I didn't.

And Atos grew, and we got used to each other. He goes with us everywhere, but when we go somewhere together we go somewhere that accepts dogs.
Athos is very lively, playful, and curious, he needs to be handled, if not, he will alert you by barking intensely.

He prefers to be outside when the weather is sunny, and he doesn't like rain or cold. During the pandemic, I walked with him several times a day, because otherwise we were not allowed to go out, but now I have reduced that, and we go out every other day.
Now, my wife takes care of him most of all, and Luka, who wanted pet so much, stays more on the sidelines.

He is now five years old and in the best dog years :)

And finally, his favorite pose while resting :) 😁 🤣

Ah that is awesome.

I too resisted adding pets to this house as I am allergic, hate the extra work and mess associated with someone else’s choices forced upon me.

Fast forward a year and i am the guy who happily soends an hour a day in the dog park.

Every cloud has a furry silver lining and i love this little goofy dood.

Thank you. We adapted to each other. I really don't know from who's Luka persistence comes.😎

How high up in the hierarchy of the family has Atos already climbed to? 😯
In my case, it seems that our "Amigo" is in the decision-making committee when it comes to setting new rules.
The sleeping position suggests that Atos also likes to accompany his rest periods with snoring music.
This can be regarded as a nice change. It doesn't always have to be punk.

Athos thinks he is above Luke, he listens to my wife, but he is afraid of me, probably because I always chase him away from the best spot on the sofa. 😁

I felt guilty because I should have done the same with both of them and I didn't.

The same often happens to me and I buy the same 2 things but you couldn't buy 2 dogs)) So I would ask the eldest not to be angry with me and tell him how much I love him. It helps to get rid of the feeling of guilt))

The older one understands and has accepted. I didn't.

Yes, they are quite popular here, too, a lot of people have them. They're not so active and like to rest. But Bostons are like clowns, very active and funy, high speed, sometimes too much 😎
