Three Tune Tuesday - Steve Hillage
Hello music lovers! 🎵
It's a Tuesday, time for #threetunetuesday, and a chance to share something I'm listening to.
My last post here was a week ago, and continuing with the music, I'm recalling memories from the past with you.
Today I will remember Steve Hillage, an English guitarist, singer, and composer best known for his work in genres such as progressive rock, jazz fusion, and, in the last decade, electronic music. He began his musical career in the late 1960s as a member of various bands including Uriel, Khan, Gong, and System 7.
He has also worked with many other musicians, including David Bowie, Can, The Charlatans, and Mike Oldfield on major live shows and as a producer on records by Simple Minds, It Bites, Cock Robin, Tony Banks, Robyn Hitchcock, Khaled, and Latifa.
In his solo career, he has released over twenty albums, nine of which are studio albums, the remainder being compilations and live recordings.
Musically, he is known for his complex instrumental arrangements, heavy use of synthesizers and other electronic instruments, and his unique guitar style.
In the last decade he has been mainly involved in underground electronica production, painting, and sculpture. He has even written a book on guitar technique, 'Guitarist's Guide to Transcendentalism'. Still very active at the age of seventy-two :)

Steve Hillage - The Glorious Om Riff
The song is from the fourth studio album, Green, from 1978. Song The Glorious Om Riff is a remake of the song 'Master Builder' by Gong, Steve's previous group, he composed it with other members in 1974 and, with the use of guitar synths and hybrid sounds, it indicated where Steve's musical path would go. Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason produced Green.
Steve Hillage - Searching For The Spark
The song is from the 1977 album Motivation Radio. It was the third Steve Hillage solo album, recorded in Los Angeles but without significant commercial success in the USA. By the way, I listen to Steve Hillage with this record, if I remember correctly it was about the 12th record I bought as a teenager.
Steve Hillage - Waiting
The song is from the seventh studio album For To Next from 1983 and reflects his movement into computer-based music production, this being mainly synthetic except for Hillage's guitar. He worked with partner, Miquette Giraudy (Gong, System 7), a French keyboard and synthesizer player. She is also known for her work in the French film industry in Barbet Schroeder's movies More and La Vallee, and Prevost's Jupiter.

There's also a live concert recording, I don't know exactly where or when, except that it was uploaded in June 2011. The song is from the sixth album Open from 1979.

From Khan to Gong and on to System 7 - it took many "boots" to follow this musical path. And yet the same question usually comes up when you would like to talk to someone about Steve Hillage. Steve ... What was the name again?
Yes, if something is not regularly on the agenda it is quickly forgotten.
Steve Hillage is really fantastic. The last live performance is awesome
