My Feelings about Old Cartoons

(Edited)

I remember last week I wrote about anime’s influence. Well today, the #inleo #marchinleo prompt thought about something a bit different, tasking us to write about cartoons, animations or anime.
I’m an animations fella. Something a bit wondrous about seeing drawings moving and doing other human-like activities on screen. Yet, since I’ve already talked about anime last week. Let’s go ahead to its predecessors the Cartoons
**

Cartoons

When one is talking about cartoons. One is talking about the fantastical. One is talking about a show where anything and everything is possible, no matter how bizarre it may be.

In fact, the more bizarre it is. The better.

I, being born in the early 2000’s was born in an era just when the old iconic shows were either dying out or being changed drastically to match the view points of the newer generation.
Any old cartoon watcher should check the shows of this young ones now and you’d notice a few things; The drawings are different. The skits? Less imaginative. The morals taught are quite questionable and why the h*ll is almost everybody romantically inclined?
The olden days cartoons were less about making sense and more about being entertaining.
You’d see shows like;

- Popeye The Sailor

- Yogi Bear

- The Pink Panther Show

Now these shows, from the clips given above you could see are hilarious, borderline crazy, and some of them don’t even have sound or colour yet.
These are shows that open the child’s mind to wonder.
And If you think those are great, why don’t we go a bit older and bring the likes of
Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones. These are from the 30’s – 70’s

Let’s focus on the old and gold. To the art Style of Rubber Hose in the 1930’s and see just how bizarre and infamously entertaining cartoons were then.

YOU SEE!!

Completely Bizarre!
Although it’s fun that way, at least it’s way more entertaining.
The ideas these folk animating in the 1930’s thought up are simply one of a kind.
Sadly, we won’t see any ingenuity or creativity in animated cartoons now due to the 'improvements’ in the animation sector.
Since most of these olden days’ cartoons are all but lost now, it’s hard to find any good stuff for your kids to watch other than what is shown in main stream cable.
That’s part of the reason why I’m stocking up in anime now. The show young ones are brought up with helps in their character development and I want my kid to be as creative, wacky and as fun as he/she can be.

This post has ended up transforming from the differences of Olden Cartoons and New Cartoons to the creativity of animators and now to the role of entertainment and shows in a child’s upbringing… LOL😂😂
Regardless, that’s what a rant is.

A lot of the old cartoons are definitely full of great content, hard work and the dedication of the people who worked on them. I agree that the shit they put out in todays age is a load of bullshit. Hardly any of it is original and most of it is just redoing things from the past. The same goes for movies and TV shows. They recreate old ones because their ideas are garbage or the executives at the studios are garbage and don’t give people creative freedom.

Indeed!!!

There would clearly be a different between something that's hand drawn; hence putting the animators skills and creativity to the tests..

And something that's loosely drawn and a million dollar CGI or an AI then took the reins...
