It's been a while since my last post in a lot has happened. As you can tell by my account stats if you're paying attention everything is up up. A massive number of new cards, more fans, and rankings have shot through the roof. This comes with a fairly significant investment to get to where I wanted to be.

It was always a goal to get to 1 million fans. It felt like once I hit 1 million fans then sustainability and growth would be fairly easy to continue a decent growth rate. Let's take a look at what I've done and dig into some more details.

Massive Buys - Bought Fans and an account

A buddy of mine decided to no longer play rising Star. Well he still liked the game, he just got burned out from the high touch point of having to always manually kick off missions all day everyday. He offered me a very good price on his account and I accepted. I actually have no idea what cards he had in his account, we didn't dig very deep we just took a discount on the account value for the bot and went from there. I do believe he had the vast majority of unique cards that I had been neglecting for a long time. Looking at it now I can only buy about 30 unique cards before the price is cross over $30,000 star bits. By adding his account and all of these uniques plus fans allowed me to jump way up in the rankings about a hundred spots spots.

I also have been spending every star bit I can scrape together towards fans to hit my 1 million goal. This meant spending my reserve 1 million Star bits, so I am actually no longer able to run the millionaire mission for the first time since I earned the card a year ago. I figured it was a good trade-off to miss three or four days of running the mission to get my balance up to where it needed to be. I know eventually at some point it is no longer that important to run the mission since it's earnings or I actually be significantly lower than other potential missions.

UPDATED 2023 Goals

  • 3000,000 750,000 Fans 1,000,000 Fans - MET!
I started this year on January 1st with 100,000 fans. I set a goal to triple that, and through big investments of Hive I was able to surpass that fairly early. I then focused on doubling my original goal and open it to 750k. I was on track to meet this 750k early in December and I felt pretty good. When I got this unexpected opportunity to buy a bulk of cards, it just made sense and I left me only $80,000 fans short of a million. I decided to just pump everything I could into it to hit my 1 million before I start to reassess my account position and new goals.
  • 2,500 5000 Skill from Drum Lessons MET!
The drum lessons were above 5,000 for a potential. The recent change means I now earn a guaranteed amount of $4,404, and while I could focus on upgrading this is a double-edged sword as this now also means it will cost me more Star pro to run. For now I intend to leave this but I considered my goal mat as my potential was over 5K and it was a formula game change that brought me below the 5k. I'm actually much happier earning a guaranteed amount versus a range
  • Ranking Top 100 MET!

This was the goal I was fairly certain I was not going to meet. I was very unsure of my ability to add very many uniques and meet my other goals. Adding my friends account pushed me there was quicker than I thought. It's nice to be back in the top 100, and being in the top 60 is also fun to be in the first page. It looks like from my rankings with other players ahead of me I have a long ways to go on unique cards, total cards and minutes played in a week to move up the ladder. It's unlikely I'll be able to get too much higher anytime soon.

Game Changes and Impact

I don't know exactly how I feel about the changes to the game. Part of me was fairly disappointed and frustrated of the change that blindsided me 3 days after I spent hundreds of Hive to acquire an account. The rules and the mechanics changed without any warning right after I spent a significant amount of money. I understand the overall goal, but right now it's hard to know how things will change in the long run until things shake out. For now prices are dropping significantly for cards, especially for fans and those cards that are unbalanced. We'll see what it does in a month or two to the market in general

Future Plans -

  • No longer tracker card buys, just stats
I decided now that I've hit my goals and moving forward and will no longer be tracking individual card buys and prices. It's just too much time and effort to log them all and keep a running database going for my purchases. It was much easier when I was not purchasing so many cards, but constantly buying an upgrading, especially uniques can really start start to become a time suck. I don't think there's much value and I will just be addressing my collection from a standpoint of stat changes.
  • Adding a few uniques
I plan on adding any unique that's under 30k, and I might up that to 50k over time. I'm not sure how many of those I will add above that as it eventually just becomes an exercise in futility for the extra rare cards.
  • continue to grow with Fans and Music lessons as I can afford.
I plan on pushing a good portion of my earnings back into the game to continue my growth. I'm hoping to continue to add fans and run music lessons with star pro and Starbucks earned to help feel my growth. It will clearly be a slower growth moving forward. I will probably have to see if I can recoup some of my investment over time given how much I've put into this game this year I have severely neglected some other games that will need capital and I might need to start to pull out about a dollar or two a week and set aside for other games. I know it doesn't sound significant but it will significantly slow my growth.
