Season 97 Splinterlands Recap and Performance - Great season even with decreased SPS from battles.

I can't believe that we're already halfway through the next season and I haven't even posted a summary of the prior season. Not sure where the time goes, but I'm really off my posting game. But here we go trying to get back to the swing of things and see if we can't get some better results.

If you look at the highlights it's a pretty good season. While my SPS from Battle winnings decreased 8% largely from the changes in algorithms, my overall rewards were way up from getting great RNG on my chest opening, and a slight increase in the total number of chests that I got this season. All in all it was a great season and I'm looking forward to building out and being even more competitive next season.

Performance

Taking a look at my performance, I don't think I was a strong this season as I have been in the past, with only a 1.16 win loss ratio it's the lowest it has been since I started tracking. Considering four seasons ago I was at one point nine, then 1.45, then 1.18 it looks like I am not as competitive as I would like to be. Then again I'm still over a one-to-one ratio so I should be pretty happy considering the level of cards I'm playing and the league I'm playing in.

I'll take a look to see which key cards I'm missing, mainly legendaries that I don't have and epics from riftwatchers. I'll have to make sure to stay as competitive as I can be it's given my card base.

Season Rewards

Taking a look at a high level, My overall performance was really good. Getting those three packs was exceptionally lucky and really helped drive my total earnings for the season way up. A 23% increase on my season earning was very nice and unexpected, and honestly I hope it continues to stay around this range and allows me faster growth and upgrades.

It was all so nice to see that had a slight increase in the total number of chests spilled bronze and silver. I think the real key is keeping the number of chests I get pretty consistent or potentially growing each season as this will lead to just more opportunities to hit those key cards.

SPS down 8%

I fully expect my SPS from matches to continue to decrease as frustrating as it is I sort of understand the logic behind it. It's frustrating when my level two summoners continue to beat level 3 and 4 seminars yet I'm heavily punished in my earnings because my cards are at a lower level. Well I understand trying to reduce bots, I wish I could get more credit for defeating higher level cards and a bonus for my skill in lineup setting.

Highlights

Let's take a look at the highlights that I got from opening the daily in season chests. Anything above a rare is considered a highlight for me.

  • Venator Kinjo
This is a great legendary pull, I love the fact it doesn't take splash damage. I've seen it used more and more in game place and have splash and I think it's a great use. Since I already have it I set it up in my rental account until I decide whether and I will sell it to help fund the purchase of another legendary card I don't already own.
  • Djinn Oshannus
One of my favorite and most heavily used cars in water. I love this card and already have it but since I think it'll be a key card moving forward I sent it off to my rental account to see if I could earn anything from it and the level one until such time I'm either ready to combine or to sell it off for additional cards to complete my collection.
  • GF Vampiric Blossom
I've actually found myself starting to use the vampiric blossom more often, and I do love cold boil rare cards in rewards. It's a pretty good card with decent speed great health and oppress which can help out for some of those pesky tanks.
  • GF Exploding Rats
Well this is not a new card for me, who doesn't look gold exploding rat.
  • GF Venari Seedsmith
I don't use seed Smith very often, but another Goldsboro where in my collection will gladly be added to my rental fleet or sold off to help upgrade other cards that I do need.
  • 3 Chaos Pack
Okay let's be honest here three cast packs is way above my average of one that I've been pulling. It felt great to get these packs until I opened up and got absolutely nothing out of them with full potions. It was actually quite depressing considering the value that these packs held and what I could have gotten if I just sold these packs and bought the legendaries that I was targeting. I think moving forward I might just have to sell packs and buy cards, or hold these packs until chaos is out of print in a year.
  • 1 Tide Biter & Djinn Renova
Well these are not crazy good, they are epics and I collect and hoard ethics for as long as I can. These are part of my long-term collection strategy as I think epics are the cheapest car to Target that have tremendous upside long-term due to the lower print rate.

Tournaments 1-3 SPS return

I started to play some tournaments last season, only played two tournaments down in the bronze league. From what I remember is I made money on both tournaments and I think I made one SPS on the first tournament and two SPS and a second tournament. All this is not massive returns or big wins, it was additional SPS to help offset my decline in my daily play, and give me something to do while my recovery rate was fairly low.

SPS Proposal Fatigue

Not sure how everyone else feels but I'm honestly just tired of proposals. It seems like we have multiple proposals out or get to be implemented all trying to fix the same issues before any of the prior past proposals have had a chance to work through the economy and understand the impact they have. It's almost too many proposals too quickly with too many moving levers. I'm not sure where I should invest anymore because every time I take a direction to invest the rules are changed and I no longer want to go that direction.

Overall summary

Overall I'm very happy with my performance last season I think I did fairly well represent what a low level bronze deck can accomplish with good gameplay. While not a massive return, it was a fairly decent return in my eyes. No idea what the rental cost would be an account like mine but I know given a number of gold coils I have collected that my account value is creeping up towards $500 for what the cards I play. Not to mention his collection is largely missing most untamed cards in a small thing made up of rewards and chaos legion.

I think next season I will focus on playing as many tournaments as I can even if my potential winning is break Even or if you additional sps. I think it'll really help grow my holdings for the future. I'm trying to stack and save as much as PS as I can until the price either pumps then I have to sell out, or the long-term vision of SPS is more settled in just holding SPS grants some more benefits. Either way I'm pushing to 10K which is a pretty big accomplishment for me.
