Back To Splinterlands -Building My Team to Level 2 Summoners

I rented some GF summoners for a tournament and decided to find a good match to play for a Share you Battel Post. One of my favorite to rent is Brighton Bloom , adding flying to a lot of monsters can be a really big boost, not to mention earth quake matches can always be a challenge unless you have Brighton.

I also picked Djinn Chwala simply because it is one of my favorite cards. Heavy armor and thorns can be a real game changer. It can take out several monsters all its own and I find myself using it as often as I can. Adding flying to it might help create some more misses and allow it to be a really deadly tank

Show Your Battle - Dragon Combos!

Edition: DICE
Rarity: RARE
Element: DRAGON
Abilities: ALL FRIENDLY MONSTERS RECEIVED FLYINIG ABILITY

Edition: REWARD
Rarity: EPIC
Element: DRAGON
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: THORNS
Health: 9
Speed: 2
Attack: 3
ARMOR 5

Reasons Why I like it
BRIGHTON BLOOM
This is one of my favorite cards to rent, especially for tournaments. I always feel like I get earthquake matches and high speed matches were an additional boost from flying can really make the difference in upping the number of Misses that benefit from. Well I don't rent it enough, whenever I have it I find myself picking it more often than not. At least for me it makes dragon lineups much more appealing as it would probably be the best dragon summoner I could play with giving my current holdings..

DJINN CHWALA

Honestly probably my most used dragon card. I just think combination of high armor, high health, and thorns with three melee is just devastating. It will take out any front melee monster, the combination of five damage potential make it a really good card in most lineups. Adding flying here could go either way as if the monsters missed the attacks they won't get the thorn damage, but I should live longer. The only negative is if they're playing a lineup like Mylor we're having a Miss actually benefits them and me attacking him actually hurts me.

The Matchup

MANA: 16
RULES: Fog of War: All monsters lose the sneak and snipe ability.

Thoughts on game setup

I typically struggle with low mana matches, and always feel like the team I picked gets perfectly countered. Fog of war does help a little bit although I typically like fog of war with a much higher man account so I can play a high opportunity team. I don't expect opportunity to be played too heavily here since it won't have as big of an impact as the lineups will be smaller anyways.

SPLINTERS: Water, Earth, Life, Death, Dragon

  • Summoner Bright Bloom I felt like playing dragon, and Brighton Bloom was the best card I could pick not to mention the addition of flying to all my monsters like to give me some additional miises where they waste their turns and don't take away my health

  • First position Djinn Chwala
Like I said an intro, probably my favorite dragon card at the moment for it's well-rounded combination of health, attack, and armor with thorns. I'm honestly surprised I don't see more of them on the battlefield.

  • Second Position Venari Crystalsmith
Hoping by putting it here it has a chance to give some healing to Djinn if it's attacked by magic, and it should have an opportunity to do a few ranged aero attacks.

  • Third Position Soul Fiend
Classic zero mana card inserted at the back of the lineup as either a sneak attack fodder, or an opportunity card fodder. I'm just hoping to waste an attack or two of the enemy. The flying gives it a small chance of being missed and increasing the number of rounds it's around.

Opponent Lineup & Match Play

  • Summoner Bortus - interesting play, as I don't see magic being a big text method. Maybe they don't have any other water cylinders.
  • Cruel Sethropod - a great tank for so little man. Four armor, five health, to attack it's well-rounded for almost no cost
  • Tide Biter great option here too. High speed, decent health and decent attack means it will be one of the first ones to attack.
  • Hardy Stonefish - not sure why it's in third position other than to keep deep lurker around going after the back lineup for more rounds.
  • Deeplurker - probably the best opportunity card, or one thereof. I do love it with three damage three speed and seven health it can take out an entire team in some cases.

Initial Thoughts

I'm not overly excited to see that I'm playing a level 4 summoner, with level up cards. I see deep lurker is at a level 3, cruel sethropod it's at a level 5, and the tide biter is at level 2 epic. Initially I'm a little hesitant about my chances given that it's a level two summoner versus a level 4 summoner and as you rank up with cards do get much stronger.

Round 1

image.png

Round one which is good as I could hoped. While my flying did lead to one miss, my soul Fiend did what it was supposed to and absorbed the first attack from deep lurker before exiting the board. The only other real action was the fact that thorns did so much damage to cruel sethropod.

Round 2

image.png

Things continue to play out as expected so far. There were no misses this round as the flying did not have any impact. But the armor and thorns Djinn show the biggest impact. It knocked out cruel sethropod, took two health from tide biter. Overall around went pretty well and things are looking pretty good for me.

Round 3

image.png

To start the round I'm feeling pretty confident. Even as the round plays out and I lose crystalsmith to Deeplurker, the round ends with it being down to one card on each team..

Round 4

image.png

As long as I don't miss I think I should have this in the bag. Given that we're doing the same damage, plus I have thorns for additional damage, and I have higher health I think overall I should be okay. Luckily I don't miss and around ends with no way to lose. Deep liquor will go out in the next round as soon as it attacks and takes the thorn damage.

Round 5

image.png

It's always nice when winning is inevitable and all you have to do is watch the game play out. Deep workers knocked out but Thorn damage and I'm still left with three health. Overall it was a great match and I'm happy to get the victory against the higher rate deck.

Thoughts - and Chances to Win Again 97-100% Win Chance

It looks like that my lineup would be successful against those same cards 97 to 100% of the time according to splinterstats.io. it appears that even though the other cards are ranked higher, the combination of armor and thorns with flying gives me the upper hand almost every time.

I think I'll continue to play a lineup similar to this for those low matches and rely as much as I can and dragon where it makes sense. It's nice to know that I have a generally good lineup set that gives me a good chance to win. Overall I love the dragon splinter, some of my favorite cards in there. I do struggle to fit them into some match types but that's mostly due to giant gaping holes in my collection whereas they get filled in
