Back To Splinterlands -Building My Team to Level 2 Summoners

I am still building out my level 2 summoner deck, going slow and careful. Trying to use the earnings I have to roll back into better cards with some outside investment from time to time from LP pools, and post rewards. I takes a lot of money to upgrade cards, especially Epic, legendary and Non Reward editions cards. Sometimes it takes me a longtime to save up enough for just one new card.

I am pretty happy playing my level 2 summoners, and still get some wins against level 3 and level 4 summoners from time to time. Most of my level card losses are due to my own bad lineups, or missing key powerful cards I have to acquire. Looking forward to seeing how this season plays out and how my earnings are impacted from all these proposals.

Weekly Challenge - TEMPORAL MASTER

Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: EPIC
Element: LIFE
Attack: MAGIC
Abilities: RECHARGE
Health: 2
Speed: 2
Attack: 1*

Reasons Why I like it
Considering how often I play epic carton battles I will have to admit that Temporal Master just want to at least used cards. Giving my summoners and other cards available it typically falls outside of my lineup in favor of more range attacks or sneak attacks with higher health. The good news is it does have recharge which means when it does attack it will do three magic damage, and won't be reduced below three even if countered by a summoner since it's base attack is one.

The biggest risks I see are the fact that it only has two health, and is lower at two speed. Given the number of opportunity cards out there it is at high risk for being eliminated before it gets to the second round and has a chance to attack.

The Matchup

MANA: 26
RULES: Silenced Summoners: Summoners do not give any buffs/debuffs.

Thoughts about the rule sets.

26 minutes is a little low for my liking, it allows me to get a few but not all of the cards I typically like to play. Man of matches from 18 to 26 or weak spot in my lineup strategy. The good news is with silence to summoners as a rule set mini of my shortcomings on negated by the fact that cards will just attack at the base level and lineups will be anymore even starting point.

  • First position Pelacor Conjurer
I do love have a court here, I have been many matches where between its speed and flying it can miss a number of attacks. It also has a heightened of health where it can get healed once or twice and really stick around it's around two or three.

  • Second Position Cave Slug
What are the original opportunity cards that I fell in love with, while it is slow it does do three melee damage that only level 2.

  • Third Position Stitch Leech
One of my favorite sneak cards for life now, well not as fast as some of the alpha beta cards, it does do two damage and a lower level and has for health

  • Fourth Position Venari Crystalsmith
Pretty much consider this a must given to boost to the range, plus tank heel decent speed and health.

  • Fifth Position Temporal Master
Tried to put the temporal Master here to hide it away from opportunity cards and give it a chance to attack.

  • Sixth Position Time Mage

I personally hate playing against time made so I find myself putting it in a lot of lineups. Taking away one speed at the lower levels can really have a huge impact and increase my chances of creating a mess on my side.

Opponent Lineup & Match Play

  • Summoner Grandmaster Rathe, not sure where they would pick a legendary summary that cost six men in a rule set for all of his benefits are muted. Typically the additional armor, void armor, and amplify would be a huge benefit. But I too have been known to pick a seminar inside summon a rule sets only to slap my forehead afterwards
  • Coeurl Lurker this is one of the cards that I'm really jealous I don't have yet. It's exceptionally powerful with taunting and Dodge with 4 speed high health and highly attack. I really need to get this card and I'm concerned about it.
  • Soul Fiend classic spot for 0 minute card, and it is getting a father after you lose your tank and allow your other monsters to keep attacking
  • Scavo Hireling this would have been a great monster if it armor had been added by the seminar. But since it is not added it has almost no impact
  • Pelacor Arbalest I do love the pellicorn arbalest, it's too basic attack with double strike is great. If it got the armor added from a seminary it would be even better. Personally I only like to use it when I boost it's attacked by one by using a summoner advantage.

Initial Thoughts

Feeling like I have a chance, but I am worried about Coeurl Lurker, that thing is a beast and can easily make me miss a ton of attacks. I also feel like I got super lucky they made a mistake with silenced summoner - if it had been a regular ruleset, I feel I would likely lose.

Round 1

The Time Mage really pays off, slowing the opponent down by 1 helps me attack first and start to chip away. It also increase my chances of hitting, while increasing my chances of being missed. I got super lucky that Coeurl Luker missed Pelacor Conjurer in the first round, a hit this early would be devastating to my lineup. Infact my luck carries forward the whole round. I also get missed on one attack from Pelacor Arbalest while only the Cave slug missed its attack.

Round 2

image.png

Round 2 starts off pretty good, I am looking ok, and given the speed boosts and attack order, I will get to heal before they attack. While Coerul Luker hits this time, I also get to add the recharged attack of Temporal Master, taking 3 health and contributing to it gettting knocked out. This is massive as they dont have much else in line to attack. As the round progresses, I also knock out Soul Fiend.

Round 3

Surprising how quickly this ended honestly, given my speed advantage I get to knock out Scavo Hireling before Arbalest can attack and the rest of my line up cleans up the remining.

Thoughts and likely hood to win again.

I barely missed, maybe one attack, and that is lucky against dodge. I also was missed 3 times, and the speed difference with abilities were all more likely to hit than to miss. I will have to say I got very luckily with RNG. I think the single biggest factor was the misstep on the summoner choice.

Would I win again?
I ran the scenario through the splintertools custom battle lineup. It says I had a 89%-99% chance to win after running it 10 times. I think the big factor is RNG and misses one way or the other. I guess either way my lineup was better overall, but honestly that is most movement I have seen when running the tool 10 times. It gets harder to predict when it swings so wildly, but thats is ok. I may not have had the optimal lineup, but it worked and I would play it again given how well it performed.

I really appreciate the splitertools.io tools, it helps me understand if my perceived bad luck actually matters. I tend to start to tilt after missing everything, but if after running the tools I see I was likely to lose anyways I feel better and try to learn what lineup changes I need to make.

Overall Thoughts

I like the Temporal master, while I have a harder time playing cards with recharge, I am facing more of them, and them can have a massive impact. I will see if I can find more ways to include it moving forward.

What would you have done differently?
