Taking A Look At Paying Off 200 Students Debt and New Careers Paths

Larger Sample Size, Better data - Now at 200 Students

I wanted to get an update out as I continue to roll more students. While I am not rolling nearly as many as the biggest cities, I have tracked every roll I have done since the start. As I continue to roll, the numbers should become more reliable of what to expect (barring any changes or new career paths)

Speaking of changes, students can now become hackers, the newest citizen of dCity, and honestly the most confusing and the rarest of all careers. I am still waiting for my first hacker, and thus still can't participate in the Entry Shop and spend any of the Entry I have been saving.

Lets Pay Off Debt and Roll those students into new Careers!
As students get older, they start to change to Students with Debt. As they get debt, they have the oppertunity to pay off the debt and move from a student to a different career. Some are better than others, its a gamble. Right now the cost is only 30 SIM and most of the opportunities are lateral to upgrades with only a few being downgrades IMO. (Workers, Scientists, Homeless)

Like all things dCity - the Info pages have almost everything you need

New Careers and Benefits to your City,

Tax refunds are still on most of the converted students, but a few really shine. Lawyers give 10 tax refund, Solider give .1 war shares plus 1 tax refund, and Police help decrease the crime rate in addition to the tax refund.

If you are lucky you will increase your overall tax refund and grow you war shares for when the war tax is on. It gives everyone a chance to get free citizens, and free war shares!! These can provide that crucial income to help you to continue to grow.

Rolling 200 Students with Debt What are the Hot Careers?

I will roll all my students, I love the gamble and the possible huge gains from the top 3 or 4 cards! Here is what I have gotten since the start of rolling students.

Overall I am pretty happy with how my students have rolled. Sure I have had some real losers, and dropouts who have become dependent on social services and a burden to society, but overall, my city is better off.

I have had 43 students with a tax refund either roll into a new career without a refund or fall into homelessness. Luckily that hit has been offset but gaining citizens that have a bigger tax refund and have actually gained me overall shares.

Lawyers and ECO Activists The real homerun for sure. I managed to snag two of them, and the 10 tax refund each is huge for making up for the initial loss. I have also gotten a large number of ECO Activists with double the tax refund.

Soldier Another true bright spot for me. In addition to keeping the tax refund my 38 soldiers have managed to increase my war share by an additional 3.8 shares. This helps increase my daily SIM payouts with a bigger share of the war taxes.

Total Refund

Since I rolled 200 students, I gave up the refund of 200 SIM, but if you look at the chart above you will see my total refund has actually GROWN to 203. Thanks largely to my luck with Lawyers, but still I am very happy with increase over a population of 200 samples. I am hoping to keep the luck rolling with more Lawyers, Soldiers and my first hacker.

My next update will likely be a ways out, I am thinking of 300 rolls, but given my current acquisition rate of students, it will take me a while before I am able to roll that many. I wish I had bought some packs of 25 a while back, and may consider if/when they go on sale again. I think it will be a great way to build my city and give me more to roll with!

Do you have a city and just don't look at it much? If you have some of the older cards prices have gone up recently with the end of the 2nd edition, might be a good time to sell.
