Collection Highlights -

I have another vintage piece of silver to share today. Given all the hoopla about BTC pump into the moon and getting all time highs I figured it was a good time to bring it back to the silver stack. This particular round is from the world wide mint, and was produced in 1981.

The worldwide mint was based out of Minnesota from 1973 until about 2000 when it was dissolved. It was a massive producer of silver art bars in the '70s and '80s and was probably best known for their Coca-Cola art it's produced several types of rounds, but the most commonly seen are the Liberty rounds produced in 1981 and 1982 using several varieties. This is likely one of the first varieties of the Liberty round produced.

I'm pretty sure this is my only worldwide mint round, unless I have another one of the same design, possibly dated hiding somewhere at the bottom of the stack. I am fairly confident I don't have any of the Coca-Cola rounds or any of the other designs I found online.

Obverse

A very unique front to the coin in my opinion. It's main focus is a wonderful headshot of the beautiful lady. Of course we have to have 13 stars around the outside, pulling back to the 13 colonies. I really like the imagery and the carving, and interestingly you can see the artists or engravers initials hjb at the bottom of the headshot. On the very bottom and very little lettering it says worldwide mint Incorporated 1981. When compared to the other rounds produced with the same design, they all have dates right underneath the head of 1981 or 1982, this is the only one that doesn't have a date.

Reverse

Like most silver rounds at this time, it has a nice ego on the back. This eagle looks a little awkward. Not sure what's off about it, looks like it's next is a little long, or it has too many feathers on its legs, I'm not sure it just looks a little awkward. Outside of that I like the dimpling around the outside, I like the fact that it once again calls out the mint very plainly and let you know that it's made out of 999 fine silver. While it's not my favorite equal design, or designed to the reverse of a silver round, I think that's a lot of positive attributes overall.

There you have it, another nice vintage silver round from the early 1980s, pulling at about 43 years old and looking pretty good. If only I aged my decades as well as the silver round has.

There really are a lot out there, just many are in collections that aren't currently for sale. I don't think it's really possible to collect them all, there are just too many!
