πŸ”± Celebrating Maha Shivaratri in Buenos Aires with a traditional dance show πŸ”±

Hello weekenders, how has life been treating you? How have you been taking that treatment as well? That changes everything haha, today I come to share with you a very funny day we spent with a friend who came to visit from the Atlantic coast where he recently moved with his current partner to a place called "el sosiego" (certainly a place to get to) he comes every now and then to visit and we are always looking for something to do at every opportunity. I found out about a traditional Indian dance show and invited a mutual friend who was unable to attend, I went to the ticket page and saw that you could get up to two free tickets, by this time I was thinking of going alone but I ordered two just in case, When I found out that this friend was coming to the city I thought of inviting him, not without some fear because he might enjoy it, he is an actor, dancer, holistic therapist and initiated in tantra so he could get to tune the event with his interests but you never know. ..
When I invited him he accepted without hesitation, so the day of the shivaratri we went to the special event, it took us an hour by bus to the Borges cultural centre, we got disoriented walking around the pedestrian street until a good stencil of Borges himself gave us a lapse in which to orient ourselves, fortunately I have the map and he has the compass.

We went to buy something to drink as after an hour's drive we were thirsty so we went into a health food shop and opted for a graviola juice which we had not tried before and a mix of dried fruits to go with it.
We arrived at the venue on time, they showed us the way to where the event would take place, and when we arrived we were surprised by the organisers dressed in beautiful saris who offered us flowers to complete the mandala that was on the floor, it was a beautiful detail of the organisation.

It will not have been easy for the organisers to get permission for the cultural centre, they are part of a dance school that has grown a lot and I know from when they only taught traditional dances, it has now become an integral centre of Indian culture, they do trips and various activities to the point of having the support of the embassy for this event in conjunction with another organisation. The show was beautiful, with an introduction and explanation of the birth of the dances that were presented with excellent mastery. They performed Bharatanatyam Odissi / Kuchipudi
Indian dances are extremely difficult to perform because of the importance of telling a story with the body, the facial expression is extremely important, more so than in other dances.

When we entered the theater I tried to situate ourselves in a good place to be able to appreciate the show, what I couldn't do was take good photos since I didn't think it was right to get up all the time to do it, bothering everyone, including myself. As soon as the lights went down and the om namah shivaya mantra began to be heard, my friend and I, as good meditation practitioners, almost entered a hypnotic trance. The surrounding sound of the place helped a lot to synchronize our breathing and get in tune with the proposal, Shiva is one of my favorite gods along with Dionysus, Pan (which is not such but as if...) and some other that is irrelevant to name them now. So I took seriously the interpretation of the dances that the dancers were offering. It's not that I believe they exist, rather I understand the archetypal images and I enjoy the teaching that the ancient philosophers transmitted to us with such care and art.

It was very impressive to see live dances that I had only seen in documentaries or on YouTube, it is a difficult dance to assimilate for the eye that is not used to it, so I tried to give my companion an idea of what he was going to find when will the show start, luckily, since in the introduction they did not elaborate on those more technical topics typical of the appreciation of the dancers, since I am a fan of the traditional dances of the world and I practiced some, I was able to make them notice the details that make folklore and classic of the India unique in its style.

By the end of the show, I did go up to the stage to take a picture of the altar.

It was a beautiful show, very well done, with careful and love, at the end the ambassador of India who was present at the venue took the stage. We went out and when we went down the stairs I took the opportunity to take a photo for the memory, using the difference in steps to stay at the same height hahaha because it takes me a head

To end the post, a photo of the Alto Palermo shopping dome with an original work by Berni, a world-renowned artist. We walked around the mall from where you can access the C.C. Borges looking for the bathrooms, and then looking for the exitπŸ˜…πŸ€£
