Art is subjective

As you might know, for longer than a year now I have been selling my photography as NFTs.

And I already knew it before I jumped in that art is subjective and everyone have a different taste when it comes to it.

These pieces shared in here are not my conventional style. But as an artist, now and then I just like to get inspired and go with the flow and try to create some different types of images.

I really like all of these but I have to say that the people that follow me and my NFT collectors were never too excited about this works. And that is fine. Because I have enjoyed captruing them and creating them.

What I have learned in these year it is that actually, the majority of people that follow me, have a very different taste than mine.

Because a lot of my own favourite works are the ones to get the least attention and the ones that end up not being collected and staying in the market for a long time.

In the meanwhile, some other works I think it will not to as well, and that will never be collected, end up being the most popular ones and end up being the ones that collectors invest their money on them.

So if you are an artist and specially if you use any online platforms to work on your business, remember that no matter what are the results, your art is worth it and have value.

And you might not like it but you have to learn with the mistakes you make when it comes to the NFT world if you want to be more successful. You need to find your balance between your artist side and your business side because in the end that will be the way to get your name known and also start having your art gaining more value.

Like everything in life, there will always be a dilemma between art and the economy, especially when you have to live off the result of what you create. It is important to find the balance point and to be able to satisfy the expectations of the clients without renouncing our artistic criteria, at least those that we consider vital.

That is so true. And i am terrible at it. Lol. I understand the business side. But i tend to forget it all the time and always prioritise the art side. So I am happy and create whatvi want but I also could probably be banking way more than I am if I sometimes gave up to the business side a little bit more. Still have not found my balance on that

It is a pity that sometimes you have to make sacrifices, but the alternatives are not many. Either you sacrifice some art or you live in misery, unless you have all your financial problems satisfied. I believe that this must be seen in a pragmatic way and be optimistic, that is, at first make sacrifices, until a minimum of needs are covered and then gradually reduce those sacrifices, letting our art out more and more, with the hope that one day everything be in function of art.

I agree with @r4f4 that to create you have to live. What you have to achieve is to obtain the necessary benefits by making the minimum sacrifices possible. Good luck in that search.
