Ashwagandha: Benefits, Uses, and Side Effects

Hi guys, today I will tell you about Ashwagandha. Almost everyone has heard that Ashwagandha is a magical treatment for depression, stress, and anxiety. It is also very famous among people. People say it is natural and has no side effects. You also see many ads about it on Facebook and YouTube. The purpose of my blog today is simple, to give education about Ashwagandha and help you understand it. And remember, every natural thing can also have side effects. Natural does not always mean safe.
Now let's understand Ashwagandha. Remember, Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic herb, and its scientific name is Withania somnifera. On social media, people call it a stress killer and a sleep booster. Today we will understand what it is.
Number one, it is an adaptogen. An adaptogen is something that helps the body deal with stress. This is not its only benefit. It works in both the body and the brain. It is often described as helping the body respond to stress, and cortisol is a stress hormone.
It is also linked with Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. When GABA activity increases, the brain becomes calmer and the body feels more relaxed. Ashwagandha may take around two weeks before some people notice better sleep, and some studies have reported effects on stress and anxiety after several weeks.
Research has studied daily doses of 300 to 600 mg in some adults, but the right dose depends on the person and should be decided with a healthcare professional.
Now about side effects. Ashwagandha may not be suitable for everyone. People with thyroid problems, low blood pressure, pregnancy, or other medical conditions should speak to a doctor before using it.
If someone has mild stress or mild anxiety, they should still take it only on a doctor's advice. Do not follow social media trends. Take care of your own health.
Thank you. I hope you understood today's education. Thanks for watching.
