Today we will talk about what OCD is. OCD means the disease of obsession; this OCD is no joke. Today I will tell you what its symptoms are and what the science behind it is.
And most importantly, is its treatment possible or not? What do people think about it? People think it is self-care. People even think that everyone has a little bit of OCD and it is not a serious disease. But no, this is a disease in which a war is going on in the patient's brain. These are such patients who keep washing their hands again and again; they do not get satisfaction after washing their hands, they feel again that my hands are dirty. They wash their hands so much that wounds form on their hands.
Or they pray again and again, but they still do not feel satisfied. OCD is no joke; it is a serious mental disorder. It is a clinical condition, just like diabetes, just like blood pressure. It is not a habit of cleanliness; in this, the patient gets thoughts again and again, and you have absolutely no control over these thoughts. The patient who has OCD is not enjoying these habits at all; they feel trapped in these thoughts, as if they feel themselves in a jail.
The disease of obsession not only damages the brain but their relationships are ruined, their career is ruined, their work is ruined. People think everyone has a little bit of OCD, but that is not the case at all, they are completely wrong. In OCD, the 'D' stands for disorder. Everyone has self-care, like people take care of their own cleanliness. OCD means if a thought comes to you but you cannot control those thoughts. If you try to control the thoughts, you feel restless inside and you go into anxiety. Such patients take a shower many times a day. They not only have obsessions of self-care, but in many patients, it also happens like, "Did I lock the house door?" They keep checking the door again and again; they keep opening and locking the door again and again. But its treatment is also possible, which is done through medicine, which psychiatrists give, SSRIs or tricyclic antidepressants, because research has proven it. There are brain neurotransmitters, which are called Serotonin and Dopamine, and it is said that OCD can happen due to their deficiency. These medicines fix you in 15 to 20 days, which has a significant effect on your negative thoughts. I hope the information I gave you today you liked and your knowledge has increased. Thanks for watching
