2nd Witness Townhall - Wednesday Oct 8th at 12pm ET

It’s almost time for the second Witness Townhall in the official Hive discord.

Let’s take a look at the first townhall on September 10th.

Here’s some highlights:

• Many Hive witnesses introduced themselves, describing their tenure, rank, and specific contributions to the ecosystem
• core topic of discussion centered on the role of a Hive witness which was defined primarily as signing blocks to maintain blockchain uptime
• community members were encouraged to use their 30 votes for Witnesses
• It was noted votes decay after a year without governance participation
• discussion took place about some of the prevalent issues like user onboarding challenges, complexity of explaining Hive to newcomers and need to improve communication to mitigate disagreements within the community

The Next Townhall

It will take place on Wednesday October 8th at 12pm ET in the official Hive Discord

It was be an opportunity to meet the Witnesses:

• find out what they do on the chain
• what projects are important to them
• how they feel about topics of interest on the chain
• for them to share about upcoming developments or possible developments

By hearing them, community members get a sense of who the Witnesses are and can make better informed voting decisions.

The townhall is meant to be a two way discussion between Witnesses and the rest of the community. The text is monitored for people to be able to put questions and concerns to raise.

It doesn’t matter if you’re new to Hive or been here forever, your vote counts. So come on out and listen in, ask questions and learn.
