Deep dives and high fives: Why joining forces fuels creativity

February has been a collaboration between DreemPort and the Creative Work Hour led by @dreemsteem and @alessandrawhite, respectively. We wrote last week giving some hints about what the post next week will be about and why it matters. This week we’re supposed to talk about what the collaboration with the group we weren’t previously part of has been like.

Yeah, that would mean choosing for me. I’ve been with DreemPort since the beginning and with Creative Work Hour for about 2 years. So, being the stay on task person I am, I’m going to talk about both groups, instead of one.

DreemPort works to bring people together, no matter where they create content. CWH brings people together no matter where they create content or what they create. Both groups are about supporting and elevating the creativity of each other. What happens when you bring two groups like that together?

We end up with a challenge to go deeper than grab a topic, write a post, add an image or two and, Bob’s your uncle, go post it. I have no idea why Bob is your uncle. Anyone can be your uncle.. But I digress.

The challenge is to give a lot of thought and put some depth into the post for the challenge. It will be published next week. But, this challenge doesn’t just send everyone off to write a post and submit it to DreemPort. No, that would be too easy. Maybe not easy.

When you’re not accustomed to doing a task, doing it the first time can be nerve-wracking. What does that really mean to write a post like that? How can I possibly write something like that? Wait, I’m not sure I understand what I’m supposed to do.

Left to your own devices, it would not take long to talk yourself out of the challenge. Then you’d not find out how cool it is to go into DreemPort see those five posts show up to go read, comment and then rank. Or to submit your own post so five random people can read, comment and rank your post.

That would be a shame. If you’ve not experienced the energy of Dreemers showing up on your posts, you’re missing out. Who likes missing out?

Enter the Creative Work Hour doing what it does well. CWH usually meets every day on Zoom. I do mean every day, even holidays. Sound like a huge commitment? Naw, you show up when you can. Some of us show up most days because it comes to mean that much to you. It’s like checking in with family without the drama.

CWH setup a special hour on Discord for this collaboration. Most of the Dreemers are comfortable on Discord and CWH does have it’s own discord, it’s where we chat and share. Monday to Saturday with time out for Thursday (PYPT) CWH and the Dreemers have met in a voice channel.

Alessandra, and Dreemsteem when she’s able, lead the group on how things are going. Questions are asked and answered. Participants are cheered on. Some meditative time is taken, some journalling time and then time to work on our future post. The hour is very similar to how the Zoom call happens.

In the spirit of a true collaboration, CWH people have been doing curating on DreemPort and Dreemers have been experiencing what it’s like to take part in an hour of taking care of their creative health.

It’s hoped both groups will continue to work together even after the end of February.

I’ll mention here that in the almost two years of being part of CWH, I’ve been more consistently creative than any time I can remember. I’m not as inclined to put off doing things as I have been in the past.

To me, this collaboration is like bringing two friends together, so it becomes three friends. OH wait, that’s what’s happened, two friends found each other and I get to watch as we all become friends.

If you've not jumped into the February challenge, stay tuned. There's a new challenge starting each month on DreemPort. Want to have the company and support of other creatives, try joining Creative Work Hour.

It’s really very hard to jump into something that you’ve better tried before
If I keep on waiting for the right time I might wait forever
Definitely do not want to miss anything anymore

Uncle Bob has suffered🤣 I am really enjoying the collaboration between dreemport and creative work hour, it's one of the best for me so far. Hive is a very large world, imagine CWH being in existence for almost two years and I am just knowing about it.

I came across this post on Dreemport
