Islands In The Stream of Life

I’ve never met a kind, thoughtful person who didn’t possess a strong sense of humility.

I’ve always found the more I learn, the more I’m in awe of how little I actually know. It’s a humbling experience to come to the recognition that no matter how much I learn, I will never run out of knowledge to acquire.

The world is a vast ocean of knowledge buried in a sea of noise and interference. Life is like a treasure hunt that I can never truly master. I poke around, following my curiousity, even going down some rabbit holes to see where they take me.

Were I to consider any topic mastered, it would only be my own arrogance rising up, not mastery.

I’ve met people who cross the often rather fine line between having confidence in their level of knowledge and the arrogance of knowing it all. The former will display humility in the certain understanding there is always more to learn, no matter the topic.

The latter, the arrogant, the ‘know it all’ and the know very little. The more they cling to ‘knowing it all’ the smaller their island becomes as the ocean of knowledge grows ever larger.

I feel as though I live on an island in this vast sea of knowledge around me. It’s an island receiving regular shipments of reading material and people to share with. It’s sometimes a busy little place andd other times it’s quiet for me to process and consider what I have explored and how it fits into my world and the beyond.

The abundance can be overwhelming but it forms a life energy powering all coming in touch with it. I run to the shore and scoop up bucket after bucket of knowledge.

I examine each bucket to learn what I am willing to learn, knowing that there will always be new buckets for me to delight in.

What’s in your buckets today?

One day you can feel you know it all, the next you know very little. It is the daily battle we have with the voice inside us. How we keep him in check is the challenge.

that is very true. Being aware is a good start. Many are unaware of how little they actually know and convince themselves they know it all.

This opening line is powerful; I love it.
As someone who is obsessed with learning and is constantly feeling like she doesn't know enough, this post is quite resonating. There is always more to learn despite how much we think we already know and it is plain foolishness for anyone to consider themselves a master on whatever subject. The possibilities of learning is endless and that is why my mind stays open, ready to grasp and absolve.
Humility is the key to wholesome living.

I wish you a happy weekend @shadowspub 💓

I too am in constant learning mode. Over the last several months I've been engaged in learning how to take notes in ways that allows me to use what I learn as building blocks to which I can add future pieces of knowledge on a range of subjects. It's been an interesting journey.

OH boy.. that is never an easy task. I remember Artemis trying to do the let's keep things equal for all and then realized later.. she denied her eldest some of the pleasures of getting old enough to do things the younger one shouldn't yet be. It was a shock for the younger one when that changed.

I enjoy the learning process. The eureka moment when something clicks is something I hope never grows old.
