July Witness Chat Tries A New Approach -- Come Try It Out
It’s almost time for the sixth Witness Townhall of 2026.
I was going to take July and August off from them but decided to try an experiment.
In early January I joined the open beta of a new immersive platform which has now been publicly released. Rippily is a platform that enables building immersive virtual venues.
For July and August, I’ve built a room specifically for the Witness Townhalls. Here is a sneak peak of the room. You do not have to open an account. You’ll be asked to enter a guest name when you load the room. Please use your Hive username
The room is setup for 21 Witnesses and 32 members of the community in the audience. If more arrive, there’s a gallery where audience members can participate in the chat. The chat feature is comparable to what we have in Discord.
What we’ll have, that we don’t have in Discord, is features like hand-raising, emoji reactions that I can enable as moderator, cameras can be on or off, and the ability for Witnesses to share their screen if they want to present something visually. There are some features I built into the room that we’ll let you discover for yourself when you attend.
One of the reasons I have chose to introduce you to this platform is to provide some food for thought — like maybe more virtual events for the Hive platform? Imagine setting up a virtual venue to have Chain Culture or a Hive Open Days that can be platform wide.
I hope you will take the time to join, hear the Witnesses, ask questions and experience the venue. Yes, because hand-raising is available, I’ll be opening the floor for the audience to ask questions. Courtesy is required.

Congrats on your experiment to use the "off" summer months to run the Hive Witness Townhall in the specially designed Rippily room. Sound was great, no KYC. Allow mic &/or cam, then Bob's your uncle!
Awesome job @shadowspub for designing and hosting!
Kudos to @artemisnorth.com for moderating.
The Rippily room for the Hive Witness Townhall went without a single hitch. Better performance than Discord. No one had to leave and come back to get their mics to work.
I could only stay an hour, but I enjoyed hearing Witness updates from @stress.node, aka @stresskiller; @liotes represented by @ph1102 & co-operated with @achim03, and the one and only @mengao.
Looking forward to the August Hive Witness TownHall! 🌍
