Time's Tapestry: Weaving New Beginnings

Ever notice how often we frame time lately around the pandemic? We talk about pre-pandemic, during the pandemic and post-pandemic to set timeframes on our conversations. In the era of my parents and grandparents the frame was around ‘the war’ referring to WW2. Although, my grandparents were alive during the 1918 pandemic.

Time is something we have zero control over. Seconds become minutes, minutes become hours, hours become days and on it marches. How time is filled sometimes is up to us. Then there are events like war and pandemics changes all our lives and become time references in our conversation.

An era comes to a close and we transition into the next. They will have a lasting impact but time has moved on. The sands of it’s time runs out, memories fade, but without a doubt, a new era will take its place. We might not be as acutely aware of what the next era is as we were of the pandemic, but it’s present.

For me, the pandemic halted my involvement in multiple community projects and organizations. What I had done for many years was fulfilling, but, the forced halt turned my attention to something that had been but a wish, occasionally acted on. Nurturing my creative self, the writer and creative, gained my attention. I also found myself exploring deeper into the spiritual part of myself.

Post-pandemic, I found myself immersed in the previously neglected part of myself. The era of offline community involvement has come to an end. I’m drawn to community but on my terms. Online and when I truly have the energy. They are part of the renewed self that has emerged.

I still care about and take notice of my local community, just more on my terms these days.
