Sweden's Famous Flatbread Bakery | Rättviks Tunnbrödsbageri
An unplanned trip took us to the most amazing place on the way home from Orsa
Rättvik is a beautiful small town located in Dalarna, Sweden. Here you have historical attractions, swimming spots, great views and fun activities for the whole family. Every year we go to Orsa for summer holidays and on our way back we stay for a while at Rättvik. But this time due to heavy traffic we decided to go through Rättvik town.
Suddenly we saw a queue in front of a shop, it was a bakery, we also decided to go to this bakery and parked the car and joined the queue.
After talking to the locals, it turns out that this is the most famous bakery in Rättvik and the flatbread here is famous all over Sweden. Traditional soft thin bread can be bought from Rättviks Tunnbrödsbageri och Handelsbod. Here they cook flat bread every day which is very delicious and flavorful. This is a traditional Swedish bread. (Rättviks Tunnbrödsbageri) bakery was founded by Mornells and is still located at the same address as when it opened in 1957.
The feeling of waiting to buy fresh bread and milk products early in the morning is indescribable. And when I heard compliments about the great taste of the bread, I couldn't wait anyway. After waiting for about 30 minutes we entered the bakery.
A lovely nostalgic atmosphere with a bakery right next to the shop where you can see everything being baked. In this shop you will find not only flat bread but also crisp bread, homemade butter, honey from home beekeeping, milk directly from the farm and many different jams and juices.
If you're into food, a bread tasting at Rättvik's Tunnbrödsbageri och Handelsbod is a must – without a doubt one of the best things to do in Rättvik!
