Happy New Year Everyone!

shasta2023jan1st47moose2io.jpg

A young bull moose walked through my yard.

shasta2023jan1st47moose3io.jpg

He nibbled at the birch tree tips.

shasta2023jan1st47moose4io.jpg

Then the snow on the branches fell on him.

shasta2023jan1st47moose5io.jpg

He didn't seem to mind and kept on munching.

shasta2023jan1st47moose6io.jpg

You can see some the snow falling in the above photo.

shasta2023jan1st47moose7io.jpg

Snow on his head and antlers.

shasta2023jan1st47moose8io.jpg

Even a small dot of snow on his butt!

shasta2023jan1st47moose9io.jpg

Double vision as he walks away.

shasta2023jan1st47moose10io.jpg

These photos were taken in Alaska through my window that needs cleaning. This last one is when he got close to my window. I wonder which baby he was that came through my yard as a little calf with his mom, there has been quite a few in the last so many years.

I see I am greedy for all snow photos I can find! We had once 1 cm in December wich of course was gone within shortest time.
And I really miss the snow this year.
Happy you and happy Moose thatyou have some :-)

It sounds fantastic to see a glimpse of an awesome moose in your yard my friend all around the snow. You had a great photography, by the way. There is no snow here in my side and how I wish I could experience it one day, hehe. Happy new year to you and your family dear. Best regards and take care.

I recently saw one drop their antlers. I wonder what happens to them like how long do they take to decompose?

Wow that must of been cool to see!
I'm not sure how long they last once they fall off,
I know mice and critters will gnaw on them.

You are so lucky to have these beautiful animals in your yard.

My son was in Steamboat Springs (Co.) a few days ago and saw a moose!

Lovely pictures, @shasta

Happy New Year!

We have deer, 40 some odd wild turkey with an albino female who is quite aggressive. Raccoons, 4 ferals we set up a sanctuary shed/chicken coop for. Many turtles in the pond. (No gators or moccasins.) We cull those dangerous ones.

But there is something quite magical about a moose sharing your homestead.

Just awesome stuff right here @shasta

Thanks for always supporting my goofy Hive postings. I do appreciate it!

Sammi Jo does too.!

She is never far from me. This is a live shot as I type this...

Happy New Year πŸŽ‰ ❀ @krazzytrukker! and Sammi Jo! :-)
It really is magical to see the moose walking through, I got my computer
screen where I can also look out the windows. I don't miss much except
when its dark out, but then the dogs let me know somethings out there!
We don't have racoons, snakes, fleas, ticks here but we do have a lot
of mosquitos, but only during summer!
Awe I love the photo you included! You are very welcome and
thank you also! 🐾 🐱
