Welcome to my 19th #BrawlReport as part of the @hive.pizza PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish guild!

Once again I'm holding down Fray #3, the Untamed novice fray which has all level 1 monster limits.

Congratulations to @seriousacorn223 for taking 1st place with 6 wins and 2 losses! @nata86 came in 2nd place with 5 wins and I finished in 3rd place with 4 wins and 2 losses (12 points).

We finished in 3rd place in this brawl with a total of 31 wins and 29 losses for 93 points. It's great to see us continue to win more battles than we are losing in these brawls! For our efforts, we each received 554 merits and the guild earned 12 crowns.

My Battles

Battle 1 - Win

Fog of War: Monsters lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities.
Up Close and Personal: Only monsters with melee attack may be used in battles.

I went into this battle with only Magnor and Chimney Wallstop. This combination has worked well for me in the past when using Yodin as my summoner, with his blast ability being a big help. Unfortunately, the Yodin rental I thought I had submitted in the market didn't complete so when I entered this battle I couldn't use it. I wasn't able to resolve the issue before the battle started so I'm hoping I can win this one with Yodin.

Ultimately, my opponent was only using basic monsters and a basic summoner so I was able to overcome them with my Chimney Wallstop and its incredibly bloodlust ability.

Battle 2 - Win

Unprotected: Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from abilities or summoner buffs.
Explosive Weaponry: All monsters have the blast ability.

Pairing my Llama/Kron combo with a Gladiator card should be a pretty powerful set. My opponent also has a Gladiator card in the mix, one with 3 magic power and Snipe too. With this being a blast battle, every monster is going to have the blast ability and combined with Snipe, that's a very damaging combination. None of my cards are using Snipe in this battle, while three of my opponent's are.

Before this battle starts I'm a bit nervous seeing all those Snipe monsters. Thankfully my Gladiator card made the death blow in every one of my opponent's cards so that helped build up its power and health. This battle was over surprisingly quick!

Battle 3 - Win

Lost Magic: Monsters with magic attack may not be used in battles..

With 99 mana to work with, I was able to put out all the big dogs in my lineup. Once again, I'm missing the Yodin summoner in this battle, but place Magnor and Chimney Wallstop in the first two positions. Behind them I selected some range and melee monsters with an Elven Defender in the last position to protect from any Sneak attacks... however, it appears my opponent did not play any sneak monsters so this move on my part was unnecessary.

This battle went on a bit longer than I would have liked and it's all because I didn't have Yodin as my summoner. However, I somehow managed to win this battle with only losing my tank. The Magnor/Wallstop combo does a good job of letting the back row monsters work, provided they are not taken out by an opponent's use of Snipe or Sneak attacks.

Battle 4 - Loss

Broken Arrows: Ranged attack monsters may not be used in battles.

The -1 magic summoner that I chose didn't have any effect on my opponent, but it did knock the magic attack of one of my monsters down by 1. At first glance, this looks like a good setup for me, with my primary concern being the Dodge ability of my opponent's tank. I've run into too many battles where I keep missing attacks because of Dodge and it completely changes the outcome of the battle.

Unfortunately, the first two attacks I made missed and left me vulnerable to their attacks. Despite my stronger cards in this battle, I was taken out in round 3. This loss hurt.

Battle 5 - Loss

Up Close & Personal: Only Monsters with Melee attack may be used in battles.
Healed Out: All healing abilities are removed from monsters and summoners.

As soon as this battle screen opened, I knew I was in trouble. I decided not to use Llama/Kron here because of the Healed Out restriction that would seriously impair them both. Unfortunately, I did not have any non-basic summoners for the other Splinters and my opponent did. This was a quick loss and I deserved it.

Battle 6 - Win

Melee Mayhem: Melee attack monsters can attack from any position.

I needed a quick and easy win for my last battle to help build my confidence back up after the back to back losses in the last two battles. I had Llama/Kron plus a Gladiator card up against all basic cards from my opponent.

The first two cards I have proved worthless, while Kron worked his magic and cleared out their entire lineup in short order.

Final Thoughts

I had a very frustrating time with the rental market prior to this brawl. I kept entering orders for cards and I would not get an error message, but the cards never showed up. So I repeated the orders. Well, thankfully I only had about $20 worth of credits in my account because suddenly all those duplicate orders went through and I had $20 worth of rentals of only two different cards. This really pissed me off. Only after I ended up with a ton of worthless duplicate rentals, did the devs put out an alert about the problem, so I must have been one of the first to have the problem.

So I wasted $20 on duplicate rentals and ended up losing 2 battles. But the 2 losses actually pissed me off less than the $20 in duplicate rentals. Lesson learned!

On the plus side, we received over 500 merits for this brawl, which means over 25% of the cost of a new Gladius Case!

1Up Project

If you haven't seen the news yet, check out the new 1UP project. This looks like a great new gaming project for Play2Earn blockchain games like Splinterlands! I seem to be getting around 100 OneUp tokens on each of these posts, so the earnings will add up over time!

What is the @hive.pizza #BrawlReport?

@kennysgaminglife has spearheaded the #BrawlReport project as a way to get PIZZA guild members more engaged in the @Splinterlands community. Here's what he had to say:

Starting with the brawl that just ended, I've invited/asked members of the #HivePizza guild to publish a #BrawlReport, breaking down their highs & lows, where they need help, questions they have, strategies they love, and so on. The idea is to help us all reflect a bit, learn a bit, share a bit, earn a bit, and connect a bit :-)
Any other guilds interested in publishing a #BrawlReport, either as individuals, or one for the whole guild, I'm happy to send some curation love your way!
