Splinter Stats Season 63 Report Card

Thankfully, I did not repeat the same mistake as last month by forgetting to click the button to upgrade to Silver league after acquiring enough power to boost my rank up at the end of the season.

There has been a seismic shift in card pricing since the release of the Chaos Legion packs. While only one million packs were released in the pre-sale, and less than two thirds have been opened so far, the market price of many cards has plummeted. I had been holding Gold Foil Legendaries to rent at season end and they have collapsed in price by over 50% as a result of the thousands of Chaos Legion GF Legendary cards flooding the market. My experiment in renting these high-demand cards has resulted in substantial losses.

I've seen several theories posted about why the prices are falling, but I just don't believe any of them other than the influx of Chaos Legion cards into the supply. I expected more players to use the cards and not see so many of them end up on the market and pushing card prices down. What concerns me is that this is what happened from only 650,000 new packs being opened. What is going to happen when a significant portion of the remaining 14 million packs are opened? There will be certain cards that may retain their value better than others, but I think that Chaos Legion is going to be the great equalizer and send card prices of all editions falling hard until the new supply is absorbed by current and new players of the game. This could create some very attractive buying opportunities during the price collapse that I believe will happen in early 2022 with the full launch of the Chaos Legion general sale.

My ranked battle performance was quite good with a win rate of 70%. This win rate is almost always due to renting some very powerful Untamed cards during brawls and then using them for my ranked battles for the next day.

While the rental income here looks great, the drop in value of the cards generating this revenue was about $1000.

SPS Report

As usual, the season chest rewards were nothing to write home about. I received one rare and one epic card in addition to a few commons and some potions. Still waiting for better luck on these season and daily reward chests!
