I'm maintaining my weekly post for Gods Unchained. This weekend event #186 I tried a control magic deck. I didn't have to amend my deck this time as I think I did quite well. Anyways I will be sharing my thoughts on my deck and going through my performance.

I played a control magic deck. I actually already owned these cards luckily so I didn't have to buy any cards although there are some cards that could make this deck better. I found the deck to be super strong and it didn't matter whether you are going first or second. It's also budget as you can see the Estimate price is only 36 dollars. The goal of this deck was to get the 9 mana Polyhymnia, Aetheric Hydra out on the board by stalling the game and there was also another option of hitting face with spells as a back up plan. 1-3 mana
I have Form of Power, Blizzard Bolt, Starshard Bolt and Tracking Bolt for early game creature removal. I actually would love to play another form of power but I only own one and it's a bit expensive to get another one at the moment. Lightning Talisman was also for early game removal but it's a relic and I only chose to have one because lately I've always ran into decks that had some sort of relic removal. Pyrrhic Knowledge was used for late game mainly to recycle a Wrymbreath to hit for face or kill the board with another Unbound Flames. Frenetic Bibliomaniac was used mainly for card draw to help Leyloard Hatchling as well as thin out the deck to find the stronger cards. Iron tooth goblin was for relic removal; this was mainly for zombie decks or aggro war decks. Safeguard Incantation was for card draw as well as protect and ward on my god which came in helpful against war and magic decks.

4-6 mana
Crystaltech Scholar was to help ramp mana to play my 7-9 mana monsters. Wyrmbreath was for face damage or to kill strong creatures. Shaped blast was to help clear aggro nature, war and light decks that like to bombard the field with monsters. Unbound Flames is a nice card as it also can clear a whole board but it can also hit face; I like the flexibility of this empower card and it's definitely won me a lot of games. Labyrinth Guard is just a creature with solid stats to stall so I can reach to my 7-9 mana creatures and it also forced opponent to use a lot of cards to remove it.

7-10 mana
City Planner is a super solid 7 mana card that also helps stall the game since it summons two 1/4 frontline creatures. Helian Elite is a strong 8 mana with good strength and health and comes with protection. This sometimes can be difficult for the opponent to remove if they didn't have the cards available to them. Now for the main MVP Polyhymnia, Aetheric Hydra; this card won me most of my matches. Once I got it on the board, most opponents didn't have and out to this card. The biggest counter to this card is transform and destroy and aside from death god and magic god the other gods usually don't have any way to remove this card.

As you can see below, my performance was alright. I got 13 wins out of 18 battles. It got me 3 core epic, 3 MJ rare and 1 MJ epic packs which I will be opening and sharing on Thursday! I had a nice 72% win rate for this weekend event and went from auric gold to solar gold nearing almost diamond.

Honestly, I think this deck is super strong in the meta. It has options for doing spell damage to face, it has strong creatures and it has good board removal. My only losses were to stronger more expensive control decks or to decks that were too aggro and I wasn't able to draw any card to clear their board.
