Introduction

Today I wanted to discuss my thoughts about the card abilities of Band of The Wolf. I'm going to cover the first 19 cards and I will cover the last 19 next week which is the day of the release if I'm not wrong. I'm splitting it up because this post will be too long I think if I try to cover all 38 cards in one go. I'm doing it in the order from the website from left to right which can be found here. I also want to share my weekend event rewards from the last weekend event #187.

1. Hortuk, Fallen Commander

Hortuk reminds me of City Planner but a lot stronger. I could see this being played in a control war deck. I feel control war decks are already strong and this will most likely be a core 7 mana drop for a control war deck. I like how it's a card that is both defensive and offensive at the same time since it's giving frontline and blitz to itself or to the two summoned fallen legions. I feel the stats are maybe a bit too OP. I think the two summons should be 2/2 or 3/2 instead of 3/3 but let's see how it goes. I'm going to rate this card 9/10.

2. Argus, The White Wall

I'm not sure how I feel about this card. It probably needs a buff but who knows it could end up too strong. I feel like I would rather have this have ward than frontline. This would be a good buff otherwise it's not the best turn 3 play. You will probably have to combo it with other cards at a higher mana turn. I could see this synergizing with holy writ and Olympian guard. The holy writ could make this card a super strong turn 5 play if you can buff like 1-3 creatures that's already a +4-12 health on Argus which could be pretty op. To have a 4/5, 4/9 or 4/13 with 1 armor at turn 5 would be a super strong play. Since this card needs to combo it might not be consistent so I will probably give this card a 7/10.

3. Raneko, Revenant

Well Raneko is a common card so these aren't the most amazing stats and ability. If I'm not wrong the ally ability triggers if there's a card on the board with the same tribe. Based on this, I feel this could be put in an aggro zombie deck possibly and be a pretty budget card. Not much to say about this card. I want to give this card a 5/10.

4. Camaraderie

Camaraderie seems like a busted card. That means on turn 4 if you build your deck to only have 2 Olympians that cost 3 mana. You could have a 100% chance to summon these two creatures on the board which would mean you're getting a 6 mana value at the price of 4 mana. I took a list the the possible creatures it could summon. Right now Olympians don't have any amazing 3 mana creatures so this card is not super busted but it could still summon a solid Olympian Guard. It may not be super strong now but could be a problem later so I hope they tune this card down for the future. I want to give this card an 8/10; it has a lot of potential but the Olympian tribe right now doesn't seem to have any solid 3 mana creatures that could take this card to the next level.

5. Beastfury Protoge

Beastfury Protege is just a basic card that could be used in aggro amazon decks. Not much to say about this card. Honestly nothing special. I want to give this card a 3/10. It's not a terrible card but it's not great. This will probably just be a budget card for new players to have.

6. Fae Thornblade

Fae Thornblade is another amazon card but I feel this will probably be a core card for aggro amazon decks. This deal 1 damage could help trade and remove monsters which is crucial for early aggro to establish board presence. I want to give this card a 6/10. It's a super niche card and outside of amazon decks we probably won't see this card too often.

8. Reios, The Old Wolf

Just from a glance you can tell this card is op. 5 mana for 4 attack and 6 health; this is probably going to be the most broken card in the game now. If it destroys a creature, you can buff an olympian in your hand for the same amount of strength and health; how is this balanced? Even Orcish Elite is only 3 attack and 5 health which just blitz and twinstrike. This card makes Orcish Elite look like a joke. This card is a 10/10 and I'm expecting this to get nerfed instantly. I don't think they will let it go for more than one weekend so whoever ends up pulling this card better enjoy it for the weekend. This card is even better than Blade of Whiteplain. Provided these stats and ability don't change, Reios will most likely be the next $200 card from this set.

9. Shrike Moonlighter

I don't see anything great about Shrike Moonlighter. It can take a card from your opponent's deck but you need to have a nether on your board and deception doesn't really have great nethercards so maybe this would be mostly just played in a meme deck or for fun deck. I don't think we will see this card too much. I'm rating this card a 2/10.

10. Wolf Recruits

Looks like we are going to have an aggro Olympian deck. I feel like this card is meant to synergize with Reios. It's a pretty straightforward card and can be super strong since you can pretty much guaranteed draw two cards at the price of one if you make your whole deck Olympians. Any time you can net an extra card that's already super huge value. This card can also help thin a deck and make it more consistent. I'm rating this card a 9/10.

11. Ember Oni

Ok what's with all these busted cards from this set. Ember Oni seems like a super strong card. It's a cheap Demogorgen because it's common. It may not give sleep but you're giving burn +2 and dealing 2 damage all creatures on the board which will also heal you for two health per creature. This card is busted there's no way. I feel that they will take out the burn +2 or make it deal 2 damage to two random creatures or something. I'm rating this card a 9/10 since it's neutral you can pretty much play this with any god in a control deck.

12. Elder Strix

Elder Strix is a meh card. It's probably going to be a unique card in a specific deck or meme deck. Maybe magic will have a structure deck now. I could maybe see this card being used with The Divine Coronet. Just have to wait for someone to make this card work. I'm rating this card a 5/10. It's too niche but could have potential.

13. Dark Deliverance

Dark Deliverance seems to be an alright card. It let's you take back a nether from your board back to your hand so you can replay it again. I'm thinking Demogorgon or Witherfingers to pull back and use the roar effects again. I can't seem to think of what other use cases this card might have. This card will most likely be used in a control deception deck. I'm rating this card a 5/10. Doesn't seem too game changing in my opinion but being able to use Demogorgon or Witherfingers again could be kind of annoying.

14. Retribution

Retribution seems to be another Olympian themed card. This card is OP in my opinion. I definitely want to see this tuned down to 4-5 damage or at least 5 or more in the void. This card is a 10/10. For a 1 mana card, I think it has too much value if it has a chance to do 6 damage to a creature with only 3 Olympians in the void.

15. Entrapment Apparatus

Entrapment Apparatus seems to be made to synergize with Elder Strix. I think this card has potential since it can obliterate a creature the opponent plays. I think it would be awesome if they gave this card ward instead of frontline it would definitely make this card seem more interesting and played more. For now I just feel like this card will be played i a fun to play deck or meme deck. I'm giving this card a 5/10. it has potential and maybe someone will find a great way to utilize this card.

16. Village Vendor

Yet another card for the Olympian aggro deck. This will most likely be a core card in Olympian aggro decks since it can buff your whole hand with Olympians by 1/1. I think Olympian aggro deck might be the next tier 1 top deck in GU once this set is released. I'm rating this card an 8/10

17. Ashen Child

From the looks of it, this will most likely be the opening play for aggro Olympian decks. I think this card will be a turn one play and yet further supports my hypothesis of Olympian aggro to be the next tier 1 and hyped deck once the set releases. I'm giving this card an 8/10. This card is balanced and will be definitely be a core card for aggro Olympian decks.

18. Carrion-Eater

Carrion-Eater is an alright card. I think this is niche card that would be a side deck card against land of the dead anubian decks. Other than that I don't see it being a super amazing card. I'm giving this card a 2/10.

19 Divya, The Deadly Serenade

Divya is an awesome card that will be a nice addition to amazon decks. I think for 5 mana though being a 4/4 is a little weak. I hope that they can buff this card by 1 health at least it will survive a canopy barrage. This card is not that amazing comparing to the war legendary. I guess nature did not get much love this set. I'm rating this card a 7/10. It's still a great card don't get me wrong it has an amazing ability but the stats aren't that great.

My Weekend Rewards

I got 3 rare core packs, 1 epic core pack and 1 rare mortal judgement pack. It wasn't the best weekend performance for me. Let's see if I get anything good for this week so I can feel better. I'm still looking for Witherfingers from the core packs. As for mortal judgement, I'm still hoping to pull my first diamond legendary. Alright enough talking let's open these packs!

Well nothing too amazing as expected. I still need to get Witherfingers and still missing some core legendaries. You can see from the picture below the cards I am missing. I find it insane that I'm still missing some of these cards after opening so many core packs especially since I keep getting multiple copies of other epics and legendaries. Let's hope I get a Witherfingers or diamond legendary next week!
