Introduction

Awesome we just got an update for Splinterlands. It's a small one but I want to go through my thoughts on some of the new stuff released. I will be covering my thoughts on the new card cooldown, the new ruleset and more prize options.

Card Cooldown 1 to 2 Days

Card cooldown now is 2 days instead of 1 day. In the release notes, they said it was to match the minimum daily rental and energy recharge periods. I believe the real reason they added this was because people were exploiting the energy system by delegating cards from 1 account to another and running down the energy.

Due to people exploiting the system, once again normal players will have to suffer. I believe by increasing the card cool down, there will be even less supply of cards to rent since now they need an extra day to go off cooldown. With this in mind, I have no doubt that we will see an increase in rental prices. If rental prices don't go up that means card owners are losing money. It's one way or another and someone is going to have to pay the price.

I believe the root to all these problems could have been solved when the game was released. The fact that it's ok to have multiple accounts has caused this issue and now it's kind of late to suddenly bring a ban to multi accounting as I think 80% of the player base probably has multiple accounts at this point. Don't get me wrong I'm also someone that has multiple accounts but that's cause it was allowed and of course there were benefits to having multiple accounts like I could fill my guilds brawls with my extra accounts. Anyways, this is just one instance for now but I wonder what future actions Splinterlands might have to do to circumvent against multi accounting.

Are You Not Entertained Ruleset!

Wow we got a new ruleset called Are You Not Entertained! This ruleset allows players to play an additional gladiator in a match. I like the name of this ruleset as it's actually going to make battles more entertaining. This definitely brings more value to gladius cards and might start getting people in guilds now since in bronze and silver they might run into this ruleset and face Quora.

Now we can play Llama Quora in bronze league with this ruleset at 17 mana which will probably be one of the strongest lineups for these situations. This definitely will bring some interesting impact to normal ranked play. It will probably starting impacting max level battles to as people start to max these gladius cards. From what I'm aware there are people with gold level gladius cards so these will be huge in gold league battles. In addition to that, this ruleset means that gladius cards can be used in tournaments too so will there be any point of gladius tournaments. I wonder if this ruleset means now we can play 3 gladiator cards in brawl if we use the soul bound summoner that allows an additional gladius to be played. I will definitely have to test it out and see if it's viable this coming brawl.

More Prize Options

I thought adding more prize options was a nice quality of life update. It makes it easier for tournament organizers to send out those different asset of rewards and will probably help players that won those prizes from going to discord and trying to find out how to claim their prize. I also think it's super cool that Splinterlands has their own in game tournament set up. From what I've seen most use a third party website like communitygaming.io to organize these tournaments.

Anyways that's all for me this week. I hope you enjoyed my thoughts on these small updates.

Thank You

I'm ok with Cool down on delegation moving to like 36HR or 40 hours.

But I don't know if these changes impact Cards on the RENTAL market.
If so, I think for cards that are rented to strangers (and a 5% market fee is earned on that transaction), I think the cool down should be like 6HR and not 24 hrs.

So you don't think that card being on cool down another 24 hours which is preventing it from being rented out not impacting the rental market? There's already a low supply of max level and gold level cards. Land not even out yet. Now we have extra 24 hours cool down idk we might see crazy rental prices soon enough . I rent a lot so I'll see 😂 and let you know

(Edited)

It's 48 hours now bro provided the person that rented it played using it the last few minutes before their rental expired so you saying they should drop 48 to 6 hours? And if they did this to be honest they could just rent the cards to themself and we have the same problem. They just have to take a 5% tax which isnt much compared to how much they are earning
