Haunted By Our Memories

Sometimes, our worst enemy..... is our memory

Sometimes we feel like the worst thing we could experience is losing our memories, forgetting about the things and people that mattered to us most. We feel our world would crumble and starting afresh scares us, but have you ever thought about how much of an enemy our memories are? Our past holds us down from going forward, the weight of our mistakes presses us down and soon we fall into depression hoping everything we've ever done or passed through would be an illusion. Everything that has ever haunted us was the memories we kept most times of the bad experiences.

If we had a chance, we always wish to turn back the hands of time just for the singular reason of correcting the past and making right everything we've done wrong. No matter how far we've gone, how much of an achievement we've got, the number of wrongs we've been forgiven, our memories still haunt us. Memories we have from childhood haunts us to adulthood, the hate we incur, the wickedness that piles up in a child's heart, the unforgiveness, the history that's revived, the war for clan, etc. Are revived by memories. Only if everything can be forgotten and one's life starts afresh.

Sometimes our worst enemy is not the people we see, it's not the man holding the knife and gun pointing at us, sometimes, it's our memories that cannot be wiped off, it's those hurt we remember, and the dead history that is given life when it should be forgotten. Our memories can either be our friend or our enemy, sometimes it's both friend and enemy. Our memories give us a happy time when it holds happy memories and bad moments when it holds bad memories. The first thing a man does to move forward in life is learning to deal with his enemy - his memories.
