Who stands to benefit from a piece of advice?
There will always be someone willing to give you advice but be careful whose advice you take because most of them are given from a place of experience that might not be similar to yours.
Even if they tell you they’ve witnessed the same thing happen to someone they know, they can never tell how the person felt, they can only speculate. It is said that whoever wears the shoes knows where it pinches, they’ve seen it first hand but nothing ever prepares them for the emotional turmoil the individual went through.

Your situation might look similar but your perspective on how the world works is completely different and the way you would approach a situation will always be different because you will do so from a place of experience that is peculiar to only you.
Someone who is gambling to earn an extra dollar is pretty much going to approach a cash out option differently from someone gambling because they are looking for life changing money. The former can use $100 to gain $200 and the latter might use $10 to look for a million dollars.
Both individuals have their reasons based on their individual experiences. The extra dollar guy might have a lot of money in the bank and is just looking to make extra bucks to spend on an emergency or any frivolous thing he has in mind.
The life changing winning expectation guy could be in a lot of debt, raising house rent, family problems and all sorts of financial disasters and just wishes a win, a jackpot, will be the solution to all of his problems.
A cash out option no matter how enticing will not move him. The first individual would take a 50% increase in the amount of stake he used because a profit is a profit, the other person even when the remaining games in his ticket is risky will not take the cash out option because he is hoping for a miracle.
Of course, miracles do happen.
I have seen a team who have played over 2 goals consistently suddenly play 0:0 by the end of a game. The person who picked OVER 1.5 or ASIAN 2 will have to lose while someone who picked a DRAW while praying fervently gets his miracle.
Experiences are different which makes advice so slippery that you would be surprised how someone’s advice could lead to more destruction than the good they were trying to do. And most times, they could be advising you in their favor.
They know if you take that advice, it will favor them somehow, so they are persuasive and very much convincing. If you do not heed their advice, it favors only you and they will not like that outcome very much.
The key takeaway here is to always question who stands to benefit from a piece of advice before you take it. Do not take them blindly believing that the next person has your best interest at heart. They probably don’t!
