Welcome Splinterlands Players!

One of the most complex battle rules we have, at least in my opinion, is BACK TO BASICS, in in which all monsters on the battlefield lose their abilities, becoming a true battle focused on attack power and good cards that can hold back the damage they will receive for as long as possible. It is necessary to know how to mix each unit and its types of attacks well so that we can seek victory more efficiently.

Still, a battle is a battle and we have to do our best to win. In this post I would like to share a battle made with this rule, in addition to explaining some interesting points about what I thought of my opponent's strategy and mine.

So to begin with, the teams were assembled this way, with the buffs already applied, it was a good idea for my opponent to choose a summoner that grants +1 armor to everyone, after all with the rule WEAK MAGIC, magical attacks would be blocked by armor.

image.png

Here I already realized that it would be a fierce battle with two good cards in the first positions, as my opponent had more options, he chose the card SILVERSHIELD PALADIN, with a lot of life and armor, it was the perfect card to deal with the damage, even without your skills.

Now when I saw AIR ELEMENTAL I was surprised, firstly by its speed in 6 which would go against REVERSE SPEED and the fact that it is a ranged attack card and was placed second in the team. It seems like my opponent really needs to go back to basics and learn that a ranged unit in second position may not always be a good idea.

image.png

Well, I don't know if it was a lineup or positioning error, I believe that my opponent prioritized his high attack and as the mana was at 14, this would have been the best composition, but I would have tried to get other cards with lower speed or I would have placed this one in the last positions.

Anyway, my team was assembled, thinking about saving time, focusing on using cards with low speed and taking advantage of ranged attacks, with HERBALIST, XENITH ARCHER and DAX PARAGON, while BLINDING REFLECTOR, would be my main tank, since GARGOYA probably wouldn't last long, but would be there to hold at least 1 attack.

image.png

Even attacking first, my opponent's first two cards were very strong, so arriving at action 6 of the second round, my two tanks were defeated, which could be a warning sign, but as said above, my opponent's positioning was screwed. with him, because his SILVERSHIELD PALADIN would be defeated and so, when AIR ELEMENTAL took first position, he would not be able to attack.

My opponent's last two cards also wouldn't attack because they were melee attacks, showing that with this wrong positioning, his entire team was harmed. I believe that if he puts OOZE and CHICKEN in the first positions, as his armor would withstand physical and magical attacks, this would give AIR ELEMENTAL time to defeat everyone.

image.png

In this case, the only chance of winning would be for his speed by 6 points to make him miss many attacks, while my team continued to attack and defeat his cards. I'm glad he got that wrong, which helped me a lot, after all, from that moment on, there wasn't much he could do to reverse this scenario.

Below, we can see the moment in which his card is defeated and thus consolidating the victory for my team. An expensive price to pay for the lack of correct positioning, which as said, was a huge failure, as this ELEMENTAL, in last position in this context, would have changed the course of this battle.

image.png

Finally, the last two cards being defeated. No problems here.

When we don't have skills available for our cards in battle, every detail is important to achieve victory. It is necessary to pay attention to the possibilities we have and thus put together a team that can hold back the attacks, while our cards in the rear are inflicting damage on the opponent.

This way, there isn't much of a secret, you need to think and put together a team that can follow these details, as shown here, in a low mana battle, some tanks in the front and in the last positions, whatever damage is possible to finish the work.

Thank you very much to everyone who donated a little of their time to read. Until next time guys!

It was a good battle, it seems that the opponent didn't pay much attention to the rules.
