How I Spend All Saints Day? 🤗
Hello everyone!
Hope all are safe and well!
As a tradition, every year on the 1st of November, Roman Catholics as well as other Christians around the world are celebrating All Saints Day.
Some are attending Halloween parties, some are lighting candles, some go to church, some are offering prayers, some visits the grave of the beloved while some cook foods to be shared with love ones.
Today, let me share to you all on how I spend All Saints Day here in Cebu as I wasn't able to go home.
Lighting Candles
It was past 1pm when I leave my boarding house. I ride a motorcycle going to the Church in the village. As I arrived at the Church, I thought it was close because the entrance door is close. So, I go directly to the candle lighting house as it is open. I lighted candles and say a prayer.
While I am praying, a lizard come at the candle rack. I can't help myself but to stop for a moment my prayers and take a picture of it. When it goes far, I continue and finish my prayers.
Offering Prayers
While I am at the candle lighting house, I saw some people going to the left side of the Church. I saw that the Church is open by using the side entrance. I followed some people going to the side entrance and been able to go inside the Church. There are only few people inside the Church because for sure most of the people are at the cemeteries.
When I am inside the Church, I took a picture first of the Altar. Then, I offer prayers for the Saints, for the departed beloved, for the living love ones and for myself. 🙏🙏
Along The Road
After few moments at the Church, I went out and heading to the market. Along the road, I saw some vendors selling flowers. The flowers are made to be given to those people who gonna visit the grave of their departed beloved.
Then, I stop by at the fruits vendor to buy my favourite grapes and papaya. 😀
After buying fruits, I continue walking until I reach Mercury drugstore. I bought some medicines as I am not feeling well because I have colds.
Since the drugstore is just near the market, I go there first to buy some veggies and spices. The market seems to be quite a little. Only few people as I arrived.
When at the market, I go directly to the stall of my favourite vendor of veggies and spices.
I only buy few of the garlic, ginger, onion, tomato, carrots, potatoes, spring onion, ground pepper and pancit mix veggies. The prices are really high because those I purchased cost me ₱180.00 or $3.09 as of today's exchange rate.
When I am done buying what I needed, I am about to leave the market but the Filipino kakanins displayed at the entrance caught my attention.
I asked the vendor of how much it cost. I am shocked it's a bit pricey for me. But, still I bought Biko that cost ₱25.00 or $0.43 for two. I only buy two because I am the only one who gonna eat. By the way, Biko is a famous Filipino kakanin. It is a sweet glutinous rice cake made of glutinous rice, coconut milk and sugar. Most people here cook Biko during all Saints and Souls day and also during Lenten season and some other special occasions.
When I am done at the market and I am carrying heavy goods that I purchased, I decided to ride a motorcycle going back here in boarding house than to have a walk.
Food Trip
As I arrived at the boarding house, I wash and arrange the fruits and veggies and put it on the fridge.
I have here the picture of grapes and the papaya. The kiat-kiat or that little oranges was bought the other day. 😀
When done washing the fruits, I sliced a portion of papaya and I eat a healthy snacks. I have here papaya, grapes, kiat-kiat and Biko.
After eating healthy snacks, I decided to cook Pancit, my favourite stor fry noodles. 😋
When Pancit was cooked, I eat again. 😁😁 I think I will not eat dinner now. 😁😁
That's how I spend All Saints Day. 😀
Have a Blessed Tuesday everyone! 😀😀😀💖💖💖
Thank You Lord for the blessings and love!
Be grateful in every little/simple things and you'll find happiness you ever wanted! 😀😀😀
Everyday is worth to be grateful of!
Praying for the safety and wellness of all.
