EDUCATION FOR ALL

Education is the best legacy as we do say, in other words, it's the best heritage a child can have.
Education is one of the best tool we can use to change the world to a better place, the knowledge we gain through education can never be underplayed at all. Education is very paramount.

Just like the popular slang out there now in my country that "education is a scam" most especially the lazy youths believed this statement is true, just because they see same people that do not go to school yet are making it in life while some that went to school suffer, so they come to conclusion that education is a waste of time. But anywhere I'm and I hear this statement I do my best to correct them if I'm chanced. Some don't even want to work at all before getting money, all they think of is to have money by all means without minding the consequence which is a very bad mentality.

Just like I was saying before digressing that education is the best legacy, if education is one of the tools that can help us have a better nation then having a free education in our Tertairy institutions will be a very good thing. Why do I say this? have seen so many people opt out of education due to lack of funds to continue their education while some do not even bother to go at all because they know there's no funds to push it cater for their schooling.

As at 2011 when I gained admission into Ekiti State University (a satellite campus though) our school fees was 80,000 naira and acceptance fee was 20,000 naira altogether making 100,000 naira apart from other little little expenses. Some managed to pay part payment but later opt out of school while some did not even bother to further at all because they know they can't afford it.

Therefore, if education can be free for all, I believe everybody will be carried along, the number of illiterate in the society will reduce drastically. All those that are afraid to study due to lack of funds will be encouraged to venture into education.

When virtually everyone is educated, people will get enlightened on some things that are not clear to them, some people think once they obtain their tertiary institution certificate, they have a free license/way to getting a job, which is absolutely not, the level of graduates are more than the available jobs in the labour market, but with adequate education, it's not compulsory that you must use your certificate to work.

I do tell people this; the skills you acquire in school or outside the school (learning a trade) can fetch you much more money than your certificate. Not everyone will use his/her certificate to work or get a job. But what you know how to do atimes will create a way for you. Learning a trade does not in any way mean that our education is a waste. The way a literate will handle his business will be much more better and different compared to how an illiterate will do his/hers.
Education is never a waste.

Moreso, the connection we get through school is also another thing, you never can tell who will help you achieve your dreams it might be a course mate back then in school. No one knows tomorrow. I got connected to hive blockchain by my course mate after several years we depart. And now am so happy that I get to know about Hive. It's one of the best thing that has ever happened to me, despite having an offline job yet I can't do without blogging and vlogging.

Not having an adequate knowledge (illiteracy) and joblessness makes some people indulge in some illegal activities like robbery, kidnapping, and the likes, whereas there are legit means of making money without much stress e.g blogging, the good thing about blogging is that it doesn't stop one from doing other jobs if one has an offline job, it gives room for that, just as am into blogging and also has an offline job which I run together, without one disturbing the other.

Despite all the advantages of having a free Education, it also has it's disadvantages. Yeah, nothing has advantages without disadvantages.
Over time, have come to realize that some people don't usually value anything they get for free, I don't know why this happen but have come to realize that while growing up, we tend to cherish the things we suffer for or what we put so much effort in before getting it.
So likewise education when people see that education in Tertairy institutions are free they might take it with levity hands, and not get serious with it.

Also looking at it from this perspective, our government primary and secondary schools; it's free education but how good is that education? how many of us can wish our child attend a public primary school, we know the education there is not adequate, we all see and know what's going on there, it's not encouraging at all putting our children in government school, because government school lack so many amenities compared to private schools that can aid the teaching and learning process.

It's not that the teachers in private schools are more better than public school teachers but one of the main issue is that there's no adequate funding, the government don't put in enough interest in education sorry to say, maybe they are trying bit it's not enough, even the salary of teachers is not encouraging at all, and how do you expect one to give their best when they are not happy, it's not possible, even the classrooms are dilapidated, no facilities or little facilities to teach and engage the students with.

Many things have to be taken care of before we can say we want to go into a free tertiary institution, else things will be more worse than the present situation despite that it's not yet free, we know how lecturers are suffering with payment of salaries, the ASUU stuff and all.
But if there could be adequate funding, free education is good otherwise we should not try to make Tertairy institution a free one.

Education is indeed a wonderful thing and a legacy to be left behind for the coming generation, having it for free will do great things for me, but reducing stress and numbers of illiterate.

Education can go a long way if it is free because numbers of people that want to school but don't have the money will enjoy the free opportunity but just as you said, free education is just like the two side of a coin, it has both the advantages and disadvantages which undervaluing of education is one of the disadvantages. People don't value free stuffs, they will feel they don't have anything to loose and they will do things at there leisure and pleasure... Well it is good that the too much expenses students are facing be looked upon but the issue of free education will be hard in my country Nigeria. ASUU are still going on strike despite the huge fees we are paying what happens when we don't longer pay...?😃😃
