MY EXPERIENCE WITH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS

School is a very lovely place, it's an institution that has a lot do in one's life. The school you go to might in one way or the other define you to some extent. Anyways going to a public school does not mean a child will be dull and likewise going to a private school does not mean the child will be brilliant. But still has a role a play in a child's life.

In my case, I attend both public and private primary/secondary school, during my primary schools days I was on tour lols... I went to three different primary schools, a public school from nursery to primary four and then moved to a private school for my primary five and another private school for my primary six.

The reason for the change of school in my primary 5-6 was because my dad lives in Abuja so I told him I wanted to come over to spend the holiday but after that I insist am not going back, so I stayed for one year and used that opportunity to continue my school but after that one year I said I was tired of the environment and wants to go back to meet my mom in Kwara state, don't mind me I was just a little boy that knows little, so I traveled back to complete my primary school education.
But I noticed somhing as I was changing schools, while I was in public school, my nonchalant attitude was to the extreme. I was only serious in nursery class to primary two but getting to primary three I joined this playful set of people, and to make matters worse our teachers don't even have our time that much, everyone was free to some extent to do what they like.

When I got to private school, I saw the difference, it was just too much, maybe because the kind of school I went to was a very standard one. There's thorough checking and monitoring of the students, Our assignments are well checked, likewise our attendance and so many other things, on like my former public school that the teachers don't really care if you come or not, here they will be worried if a student is not in school they might even go to the extent of calling the parent of the pupil.

Though I was very playful while still in public school but I was also brilliant, so the level of play was more than that of seriousness, so it affected my academic performance, fast forward to when I got to private school I was forced to buckle up, their was no time to play too much everything there is in orderliness, you can't run away from class or try the silly stuff we try in my former school, you'll be cut easily. we're few in the class so anyone absent can easily be noticed by the teacher.

Moving on to my secondary school, I only attend one school and it was public but it's more like a private school because it's a Catholic owned school, if not for our population, hardly will you noticed it's a public school, and then we're very close to the ministry of Education, so all eyes were on us. There's limit to all what we can do, I can say it's one of the best public school in my state even till now.

Despite all this, we still have some bad students that won't ever listen to simple instructions, they even formed a gang called "school B" this set of students have their own class in the bush. They are the bad guys of the school. Hardly will you see them in class, if our school that is so close to the ministry of education still suffers like this how much more those that are far away. We do receive report of how two schools will fix a day to fight each other, it baffles me when I hear this things, secondary school students... how much more when they get to higher institutions.

Public schools really needs to do better, there's no proper monitoring and supervision in government schools, private schools management won't let you rest lols, they will see to it that as a teacher you work your ass out to deliver your best.

For me, any day and anytime I prefer private schools to public schools because I saw the impact in my life, the difference is clear. Have seen both sides very well both the learning and teaching aspect. I can't say maybe things will change in the future but for now I'll say private schools are much better.

Thanks for your time.

wow you attended both public and private schools thats great, you have a very close experience of both schooling. You are right, in public schools, there is too much leniency and freedom, no one cares whatever you do whereas in private schools, its more like a gym or jail, too much of pushing and pressure on those small brains lol either way is not ideal in my opinion. We need to find a middle way and moderate schooling.
Thanks for sharing your views and some basic important points

Private schools have low tolerance level for waywardness and because the population can be easily managed, it's easy to monitor the students properly. It ensures security for every student which isn't available in public schools because it's usually each man to his own.

Yeah you get the point my friend,

For me, I don't pray to have my child go to a public primary or secondary school. It'll surely be a standardized private school by God's grace 😃😬

Thanks for your comment.

Normally, the unserious/playful ones are more to the serious ones in public school. And the teachers? It's none of their business especially when they're not receiving salary when due🤣

And you know whether they work effectively or not, there salaries will still be paid.

while some don't even get the salary on time, or some state not giving their teachers a full payment, this will make them relent and not do their work well.

A very interesting article from you I must commend dear friend. I see it like both types of schools are perfect if provided with the necessary facilities.

Although the school we attend might have an impact on our lifestyle, I still think they are both amazing I'm their various ways.
