Elden Ring - Fort Faroth in Caelid, Part 1 & 2 (5th Attempt with Screenshots & Video)

Here's some quick info on the game:

(Actual post is BELOW this intro info!)

[GAMEPLAY] In Elden Ring, players control a customizable player character on a journey to repair the Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord. The game is presented through a third-person perspective, with players freely roaming its interactive open world. Gameplay elements include combat using several types of weapons and magic spells, horseback riding, and crafting.

[STORY] Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between, a fictional landmass ruled over by several demigods. It was previously ruled over by the immortal Queen Marika, who acted as keeper of the Elden Ring, a powerful force that manifested as the physical concept of order. When Marika eventually shattered the Elden Ring and disappeared, her demigod children began warring over pieces of the Ring in an event called the Shattering. Each demigod possesses a shard of the Ring called a Great Rune, which corrupts them with power. In the game, the player character is a Tarnished, one of a group of exiles from the Lands Between who are summoned back after the Shattering. As one of the Tarnished, the player must traverse the realm to repair the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord.

Today's post is about a Fort Faroth in eastern Caelid where I faced off against giant bats and magic knights!

(If you don't have time to read through the screenshots below, I've attached a video link of the full fight at the BOTTOM of the page!)

Part 1

Having died at the fort so many times in the past, returning here feels like returning to a dream -- a bad one -- and yet I ventured on, going up these steps with best hopes for myself!

This was a wise piece of advice but, unlike my repeated use of Rot Breath, I don't always take the easy way out -- or in.

I'd never run into a poison enemy that put up much of a fight and compared to the Scarlet Rot status effect how bad could the poison of these monsters be?

I love this Carrion Knight armor -- just immaculate.

Here I go summoning Llutel the Brainless against -- but it's a good thing that instead of brains he has a flaming spear and the ability to teleport!

I cast one of my favorite incantations, Flame of the Fell God.

It's my favorite -- so I cast it TWICE.

No ... three times.

Four times because I have the power of the sun in the palm of my hand!

LLUTEL THE HEADLESS
Maybe you overdid a little there, master?

MY TARNISHED
Oh shut it, Llutel.
You are headless. Remember?
and if you don't have a head
what else don't you got?

LLUTEL
(sheepishly)
... A mouth?

MY TARNISHED
Good man. Now shut it
while I get wasted on magic potions
because it's Tarnished o' clock somewhere!

This is what the message meant by poison. It's everywhere. Almost feel like I need to wipe the screen of my monitor. This poison effect's must more potent than what I'm used to -- and it's makes it hard to see.

I throw some floating suns in the air and run away outside the fort. One of my spells explode and while healing I get to see a bat getting blasted out of there like he's been kicked out for getting too drunk.

This is where the poison and strange noises were coming from -- how terrifying. This old lady with wings latches on tight and things don't look too good.

And ... I'm dead.

Yeah I kind of figured after the flying bat lady bit my face off.

I like that the loading screens have little tips and tricks you can cycle through but this must be the 500th time I've seen the Blaidd the Wolf artwork.

Here we go again!

First things first -- grabbed my runes.

Zapped the bat closest to the front.

Summoned LLutel the Useless ... sorry, I meant Toothless.

I love how both of our capes are flapping in the wind here ... Llutel almost looks as cool as me ;)

🎶 Here comes the sun ... ☀️ 🎵

The power of the sun in the palm of my 🖐

Time to play my favorite song by the bandage-wearing rapper Nelly ...

🎼 It's Getting Hot in HERE! 🎶

I thought this close-up of my gauntlet hand and the lightning insignia were just absolutely beautiful.

GIF Source
I have never hated bats so much.

Rot Breath -- it's called, We Do A Little Rot Breath.

This crazy monster just swoops in and interrupts my next Rot Breath spell, cancelling it out and swiping more than half my life away!

Never seen a bat in this game this ferocious!

When I'm finally done, I swear I can still hear a bat somewhere but that might be the echoes in my head from all the shrieking.

Oh c'mon!

GIF Source

I kill that fool and thankfully some of my health and magic potions get replenished ... thank you Elden Jesus!

This little red and blue ball of swirling energy for my potions always looks so cool to me.

I go up a ladder and find a chest with this necessary item for Altus inside.

There's a lot of bloodstains but I don't see any enemies nearby.

I hear what sounds like a bell and swing my camera around just in time to see this dude rather to bisect me in half with his sword.

Not sure why I didn't teleport out of this.

Here's another angle of my pain.

I run away and heal.

And start pelting him with Lightning Spears!

GIF
And I get speared from behind by another magic soldier at For Faroth -- there were two of them???

Here I am falling to my knees and dying ...

Yeah. A spear through the back's pretty lethal, bro.

GIF Source

... Just kidding. You're never alone when you got ghost summons like Llutel the Headless. Where the hell was he last time? He just died without any head's up whatsoever.

We start off again with a little Dragon Rot Breath.

They try some poison but my Rot Breath keeps pushing them and their poison cloud backwards.

I Lightning-Spear the bat that ambushed me last time.

Llutel the Headless and I see who can spear the bat to death first -- winner gets a brand new head even though I don't really need one.

Here's the ladder I took to get to the roof. Llutel was positioned so perfectly in the corner here I had to try take a shot.

How's Llutel going to make it upstairs to the roof?

Well, he's going to use a little Llutel magic!

Grabbed my fallen runes -- 100 THOUSAND.

GIF Source

Curious about where all the magic knights were hiding, I ran around the roof and activated all of them ...

... And then Llutel got ganged-up on and murdered!

They put down my ghost buddy so I gave them the smoke -- specifically my deadly Rot Smoke.

But that didn't manage to kill them -- just make them angry!

I try to run away but get speared by magic soldier who's ridiculously fast .

I run around an drink a potion while facing the camera like I'm a spokesperson for Crimson Tear Flask -- "so good, it's healing good."

IT'S A GIRL ... just kidding, it's Rot Breath.

Still alive, one of the knights just starts hitting me in the face with a hammer.

And then it's hello again, my old friend .. their name is BEING SPEARED TO DEATH AGAIN.

Yeah well ... ever heard that third time's the charm?

Llutel don't disappoint me again.

~

Part 2

Rot Breath Time!

Llutel did a pretty good job clearing out the old batties so I heal him up a bit.

The fact my Tarnished is still casting Lightning Spear despite getting a fire bomb to the face is probably one of my proudest moments -- keep on magicking, young lady!

Just about to kill this guy with some sword strikes ...

... But he kills me instead with one swing.

I'm stuck in an infinite loop of bats, fire, and pain hahaha ... at least I have Llutel for company!

GIF Source

Grabbed my fallen runes -- 120k!

One magic soldier down!

Two magic soldiers down!

Three magic soldiers down!

GIF Source

Four magic soldiers down!

Five!

Six!

Seven!

Sorry ... this is seven!

Just when it can't get worse ... bats, magic knights, and now -- giant rats!

Found an item.

I ran away after checking out that last time ... so in a way I've never actually completed Fort Faroth on my own yet.

You get to do magic in there as well?
Such a fantastic game. And nice screenshots.

Thanks! Yeah, I started with a Confessor class specializing in one-handed swordplay and seal-based incantation magic instead of staff-based sorcery magic. Sorcery's good too I just really like the animations and style of faith-stat incantation magic.

I low-key wanted to find a Vampire here.

Is that a rapier you are using?

Yeah I keep waiting to find a vampire in this game due to all the bats and the singing old-lady bats but still haven't found any which is odd ... feel like a dark fantasy like Elden Ring should have at least some kind of giant bat-like character.

Yeah that's Roger's Rapier, it's a pretty fast thrusting sword -- not as quick as a dagger but I like the reach and speed. Hasn't been upgraded in a while though, got to do that now that I've finally made it to Leyendell lol

Elden Ring is an absolutely epic game! I'm no expert, but I fell in love with its dark and beautiful world. The graphics are stunning, and the sound design immerses me into an incredible atmosphere. The combat system may be challenging, but the satisfaction of overcoming tough foes is indescribable. The game's story and lore are so rich that I've spent countless hours delving into the history of this fascinating realm. Elden Ring is a true RPG masterpiece that delivers an immense amount of entertainment and captivates me entirely. If anyone hasn't played it yet, I recommend this online store: https://royalcdkeys.com/products/elden-ring-eu-steam-cd-key
