A true vintage beauty….

Afternoon everyone ….

Hello all, during the silvergoldstackers twelve days of Christmas themed posts. @silversaver888 was wishing for many of the United States commemorative half dollars.

This got me wondering just how many of these that I had in my collection already. I’m not quite sure just how many that I do own in total. But in my searching though boxes from my private security place over the last year or so. I’ve come across a few, and now that each box I’ve searched is 100% labeled with its contents they were easy for me to find.

The coin I’m going to share today is a 1936 Bay Bridge commemorative half dollar. It’s been graded by PCGS as an MS64. It has some light toning but it actually helps show off some of the details on the coin even better. Like the fur on the bear, the ripples in the water and more.

Here is a little background on the coin and the specs as well:
The San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge half dollar or Bay Bridge half dollar is a commemorative fifty-cent piece struck by the United States Bureau of the Mint in 1936. One of many commemoratives issued that year, it was designed by Jacques Schnier and honors the opening of the Bay Bridge that November. One side of the coin depicts a grizzly bear, a symbol of California, and the other shows the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, with the Ferry Building in the foreground.

These coins are all very well designed and struck.

This is a very nice looking coin, and off course the condition is @silverd510 spec. I did check in occasionally during my absence to look at some posts and noticed some of @silversaver888's. I am jealous of some of these commemoratives. I was putting my own collection together but had to take a break from buying for a while and had a good series of posts going. The 1921 Missouri Half will be my next target, but it might be a while.

Thanks. I wanted to do this entire series of 50 coins awhile back but saw the prices of some and stopped. I have several but find some of them in my private security place will be a chore.

That is awesome that you own one!!!
I'm very familiar with the Bay Bridge, although I lived close to the Golden Gate Bridge while I was in San Francisco. It's funny how you kind of stay close to the university where you graduated. Also, I had to take my graduate courses there too; that's mostly why.

I’ve been to San Francisco three times and have been over both bridges. I actual did a bike ride from Fisherman’s Wharf to Sausalito going over the Golden Gate Bridge. It was fun. Saw a Raiders game at the Coliseum while I there once.

I always wondered what life would be like if I didn't move, like a couple of my friends. I probably won't be stacking!

Nope. It just reminded me that I have several. I had to abandon it because many of them are very pricy in this grade.
