Awesome round, not so awesome weather…
Afternoon everyone….
We’ve had some really nice weather over the last week. Most days are sunny and fairly warm, low 80’s low humidity.
Well that all changed late last night. The skies opened up just before midnight and continued till roughly two o’clock in the afternoon. Even after the rain stopped it’s hazy and very humid.
Luckily my shop has a split unit and is wonderful to work in.
Today I’m sharing a 1981 Hoffman & Hoffman “Pegasus” silver round. This is one of my all time FAVORITE silver rounds. Silversaver had shown one off in a post just before Easter. I made a comment reading. “I wish that I had bought more”. The next thing I know this package showed up in my mailbox.

These rounds are rare, as per the Allengelhard website there were less than 5,000 minted.

Here is some info on the round from Numista:

We've got hear advisories again this week with indexes pushing the 110's again. Hey,how hard is it to extract palladium from catalytic converters?

Yeah oil prices climbing always affects metal prices. The big boys take the money out of metals and put it in oil. One commodity for another.
If you’ve never done any refining it’s not easy. I’ve never personally done it, the chemicals to do it aren’t cheap and if you don’t follow the exact process you have to start all over from the beginning. Plus palladium isn’t high enough anymore for me to even want to do it. Palladium was nearly 2K not very long ago. Once Russia invade the Ukraine prices plummeted because 90% of palladium comes from Russia. So they all shifted back to platinum which is very similar. That’s why platinum prices jumped.
