Commanders Series from the Scottsdale Mint…..

Afternoon everyone….

A little while back there was a new series release from the Scottsdale Mint. It’s the Commanders series. They are exclusively sold through SD Bullion. The initial release was only the five ounce silver coin. Which there are only 4,999 minted. They sold out very quickly.

They have since released a one ounce version in both silver and gold. I’m not quite sure what those mintages are. But they were still available last time that I checked.

Anyhow…..

I’ve had this coin for some time now. Why I haven’t posted it yet I don’t know. But it’s a well struck coin, as is everything from the Scottsdale Mint. The first release is Napoleon.

Here is the write up per the Scottsdale Mint website:
Napoleon Bonaparte: The Commander's Series - A Triumph in Military Coinage

Amidst the chaos of history, one man emerges as the veritable titan of the battlefield. One name that struck terror into the hearts of his foes and kindled fervor in the souls of his men - Napoleon Bonaparte. His life was a never-ending march, a relentless battle, for he was the very embodiment of military might, an unyielding force that carved his path to glory through the annals of time. As cannons roared and empires quaked, he seized destiny itself by the throat, shaping the world as few mortals ever have dared.

"The battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both his own and the enemy's." - Napoleon Bonaparte

The Scottsdale Mint Commander's Series stands as a resolute tribute to the indomitable spirit of history's most exceptional military leaders—visionaries who forged legacies in the crucible of warfare, leading their troops to resounding victories that would echo through the ages. In a grand odyssey spanning an initial four-year period, this series unveils a magnificent trilogy of coins each year, unleashing an initial twelve extraordinary tributes to these legendary commanders, men who earned the respect of the nations and the fear of their enemies.

Each coin in this esteemed series undergoes an intricate open striking process, resulting in a one-of-a-kind ruptured edge that symbolizes the dramatic and tumultuous nature of the battles these leaders navigated. These masterpieces are struck onto colossal 65mm coin blanks, each boasting an impressive 5 troy ounces of .9999 fine silver. Such magnificence is unparalleled in the realm of bullion, setting these coins apart as rare and remarkable treasures that merge history, artistry, and investment into one extraordinary collection.

Now for the coin…..

That is a cool round. I saw some Maple Leaf ones this morning that I am going to keep my eye on. The detail on them looked really cool. This makes me think of that movie with Russell Crow.

Thanks. That sounds like a good idea, can’t go wrong with Maples. It does…

Republic of Liberia? I thought these would be for one of the south Pacific island Republics. Looks like a cool theme for a coin.

I only have one 5 oz coin.. in the America The Beautiful series. It's rather wide and bulky though. I wished they were designed a little thicker/chunkier. Looks like yours is about the same dimensions. I am liking the wavy surface they designed on the coin.. Nice pick up!

It’s smaller then the America the Beautiful coins by a decent amount. I hope the series is good. The workmanship of it is fantastic.
